      • It's funny to watch some of these people trash members who leave the church for "left wing" political reasons now themselves flirt with leaving for right wing political reasons. I have BIL who has made some statements that Church leaders might have become disconnected from revelation (due to Covid and LGBT statements).

            • Cracks me up that it's completely lost in all the noise that the new comms director for the Mormon church used to be the comms director for Phillip Morris. Makes me optimistic about a Zyn carve out in the WoW.

We have a former legislator from Rexburg who taught at the college and is now the head of the IFF, Idaho Freedom Foundation, an extreme right wing group. Rumor is that him and his even crazier wife have left the church and I'm sure it all started with Covid and counsel to get the shot.

                  • Hildebrandt gets 4 1-15 year sentences to be served consecutively. Franke gets the same.

The judge was not impressed by HIldebrandt at the sentencing. Hildebrandt took no responsibility for her actions. The judge stated that Hildebrandt was "detached from reality."

The prosecutor after the sentencing said that he thinks that Franke should serve the 4 years and hopes that Hildebrandt serves the maximum 60 year sentence.

Any idea how the Board treats consecutive sentences? So after the minimum four years, does she have her first parole hearing? Or after one year, does she get a parole hearing for her first sentence before she serves the next one?

I would be fine with that outcome.

Not sure how it is handled.

There will be hearing after the first year, which will occur this coming September (time served).

So at that hearing, I'm assuming they only address the first sentence? Basically to determine if she is paroled from the first sentence or if she continues to serve on the first sentence? Even if she is paroled from the first sentence at that point, she then begins serving the next one?

If that is how it is handled, I see little chance that Hildebrandt is paroled from the first sentence after the first year. No way she shows genuine remorse or change. One thing that came out in the sentencing is that in jail house calls, which Hildebrandt knew were being recorded, she blamed the children for what happened. Makes her claims that she "loves" the children actually pretty disgusting.

                                Hildebrandt is an evil person.

One thing that is interesting is that there was not much of a deal given to either defendant. The initial charges were 6 counts of 2nd degree felonies. The plea deal was 4 counts at 2nd degree felonies and 2 counts dismissed. No concurrent sentences and the sentencing of 1-15 years is the sentence in Utah for a 2nd degree felony. If either defendant had gone to trial, it would have been 6-90 years. The deal for each really only gave them a possible 2 years knock off of the minimum sentence. Clearly, the state was not going to give much wiggle room in a plea deal, which was appropriate given the gravity of the charges.
