So I am in the ER with another patient when the ED doc asked me to help with a code on this 2 month old. After the unsuccessful code was over, the family was in tears and emotional. They kept saying "well it was God's will", multiple people over and over. It was all I could do to scream at them that God didn't take their baby, it was their own stupidity and arrogance. I won't forget that day as long as I live.

I wish people like that could be charged criminally.

Back when I was doing CPS, I was sent to check on a 12 year-old kid who had been found to have a tumor in his arm at Primary Childrens. They scheduled surgery to remove it, and the parents freaked and didn't show. Then they wouldn't return calls when the hospital/doctors called to follow up.

The kid didn't want to lose his hair to radiation or chemo, so the mom was treating him by smearing castor oil on his arm and then wrapping it with cling wrap.

I was involved because the doctor had reported medical neglect.

I felt bad for the kid. It was an aggressive cancer, so I understand why the doctors wanted to move quickly. But the kid went from having a sore arm that he was getting checked out to scheduled for surgery to probably have it amputated a day later. I can kind of understand someone needing to process what was going on.

Even the damn hippy Bernie Sanders believes in immunizations:
Sanders is also a longtime supporter of alternative medicine, despite the strong body of evidence that shows these treatments aren’t more effective than conventional medicine. In the past, Sanders has worked to include alternative medical treatments like chiropractic visits in health care for veterans. On several occasions, he has praised alternative medical treatments like Chinese medicine and other non-pharmaceutical options that simply don’t hold up to scientific scrutiny. On the other hand, he isn’t the only presidential contender to praise alternative medicine. Clinton has also praised integrative medicine and the Clinton family is closely connected to Dr. Mark Hyman, a longtime purveyor of pseudoscience. At least, unlike many other Vermont residents, Sanders does support childhood immunizations and has spoken out about the importance of protecting immunocompromised kids. Thankfully, that’s one aspect of anti-science hippie culture that Sanders wholeheartedly rejects.

          • Can't decide whether this fine Elder is lucky or not.

Mason Wells, 19, was injured in the bombing at the Brussels airport along with two other American Mormon missionaries who had gone to help check in other missionaries who were traveling to the U.S.

Wells suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon, shrapnel injures, as well as second- and third-degree burns on his face and hands after the bombing, his father Chad Wells told ABC News.

The teen missionary had previously been impacted by other terror attacks in Paris and Boston.

“This is his third terrorist attack," Chad Wells said, noting he was with his son just a block from the Boston Marathon bombing.

                    • Jeremy Johnson was convicted on 8 counts out of something like 80 counts. I'm not sure what that means with prison time.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

8 counts of Making False Statements to a Bank. The news says they carry a maximum of 30 years, but that it's unlikely he'll see that kind of time, of course.

As with most of your swishes, you are manufacturing past insight on dubious grounds.

That is a great story. He won some praise from a catholic cardinal.
