It seems what mom told me about eating candy and getting fat isn't really true. Or maybe they send large amounts of candy to missionaries and don't actually eat themselves.
Its because there are a lot of calories in wine and beer that they aren't consuming. So it comes out about even.
    PLesa excuse the tpyos.

I wonder how they come up with the percentages, someone stand on a corner and guess the weight of everyone who passes by.

That was my thought too. So I grabbed the MHANES data from the CDC for 2011-2012. Here is simple groupby by I did with race and household income (above or below 100,000 in household income). Reports the percent of the adult population with BMI > 30.

                    Code:
                    black rich
                    False False 0.312500
                           True 0.204769
                    True False 0.433829
                           True 0.483146
                    Name: fat, dtype: float64

Look, I don't want to take a strong stand here. And I suspect poverty plays an important role (as does age demographics). But, at first glance it looks like poverty doesn't explain much for the black population. But, this isn't a very sophisticated cut of the data.

                      So - just catching up...

Utahn's are buying candy in astronomical amounts as compared to the rest of the US and sending it to fat Black missionaries in the south?

                      Wow.
