Living in the South for 20+ years I absolutely don't get the people (most often in places like Utah where they they aren't really exposed to them) who talk about evangelicals and Mormons being natural allies.
Having served a mission in the Bible Belt, I completely agree. They hated us.

I have some form of PTSD with evangelicals (high school and mission). But if they could stop being douchebags, we could do a lot of good when we row the same direction.

They are too politically partisan these days. The LDS Church doesn't have tons in common with the megachurch crowd.

I remember having a hard time finding places that would allow us to do community service in of my areas. It was sad

In San Antonio, the church used to donate food to Catholic Charities, who would then donate it to evangelical food pantries. They refused to take it straight from us.

            • Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

                        • Was watching the news and they noted Vaea Tulikihihifo Jr. was one of those shot and killed. I remember him from the few times I've been at the Orem Costco. Very sad.
