Did Ballerina Farm get discussed here? NY Times going kinda hard after the Queen Mormon Trad Wife. I don't think the article was particularly objective (the author had an angle, for sure) but I have a hard time feeling sympathy for these trad types who like to allow people to assume that their life is an accurate representation or an ideal of Mormon culture.

Also, I have a hard time feeling much sympathy for anyone who lives out their life on social media. Yes, I know some here have relatives that make a living/career out of being social media influencers. That's bully for them but it's not something I would encourage my kids to attempt to do. If one's income (and, unfortunately, often one's self worth) depend on being popular and creating popular content then you essentially outsource your values to the crowd. And the whims of the crowd are a fickle, fickle mistress.

I largely agree with BFM, with one qualification. Even though I may not feel super bad for the aggrieved, I have so much contempt for media/influencers who misrepresent someone for biased/political/self-interested/malicious reasons. I’d never heard of this person before today but I read an LA Times article that was pretty awful. The author constantly insulted and mocked the husband and made the wife look like a super oppressed woman, despite her wild success. She tied them to the tradwife movement while acknowledging they've had no connection, interactions with or posts about the movement. The whole article is the author muttering under her breath at the end of each paragraph. So shameless.

This one got me. She visits the family ranch and Daniel gives her a tour, a nice thing to do for a guest. Somehow it turns into her mocking him for mansplaining and whining that she can't talk to a mom making lunch for 8 kids.

Daniel wants to take me to see the new dairy farm buildings, while Neeleman goes back into the house to make lunch for the “kiddos”. We stop at an irrigation ditch (which he explains); the offices (which he explains); the milking stations (which he explains). I check my watch, feeling edgy. I want to talk to Neeleman.

Yeah, I hate those voices that make such negative judgements about women (or men) who decide to make more traditional life decisions. The point is, people should have the leeway to decide whatever to pursue whatever lifestyle choices that make (obviously as long as they don't violate laws or impinge on the rights of others). I got into a fairly heated discussion with one of my sons per Harrison Butker's wife and her choices this past summer. But it's cool, we're family, so no damage done.

All that said, those LDS social media moms are pretty cringe to me and it bothers me how they put their underage children front and center. That whole social media influencer scene seems pretty unhealthy to me.
