I still think that it's pretty arrogant to put MBA after your name. There may be a few exceptions for certain professions on business cards, or other professional communication. I can see the argument for establishing credibility.
For lawyers/attorneys I'm sure that it is even more true that you need to put your qualifications on legal documents. But Kate Kelly's twitter handle has esq in it. Even Dr. Chris Hill doesn't have Dr. in his twitter handle.

There is a rule in every jurisdiction that states what you need to put on the legal documents filed with the court. Generally, that's your name, your address, possibly your email address, and your telephone number. Local rules might require your bar number and an identification of the party you represent. Nobody - and I mean nobody - requires you to plop an Esq. after your name.Originally posted by Bigfoot is Cain View PostI still think that it's pretty arrogant to put MBA after your name. Did I miss the KK gofundme thing where she raised money to fly to New York? Or maybe this kind of thing pays for people to come do this?

We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. That is an interesting article. First, I doubt that the men who excommunicated her think they "literally" kicked her out of heaven. Second, her conclusion that experiencing severe and aggressive push back proves that you are doing something right was great for me to hear. It means the bottle rocket incident from my long ago past WAS the right thing to do!! I am so relieved. Thank you KK!Originally posted by Moliere View PostDid I miss the KK gofundme thing where she raised money to fly to New York? Or maybe this kind of thing pays for people to come do this?

I think the GoFundMe is part of her efforts to (her words) be "more authentic."Originally posted by Moliere View PostDid I miss the KK gofundme thing where she raised money to fly to New York? Or maybe this kind of thing pays for people to come do this?

Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

So do the attorneys here like to have Esq. behind their name in cover letters for expert witness reports? I've always addressed them to <name>, Attorney at Law. Maybe I'm a few decades behind. In other news KK demonstrates the adage that really smart people can do really stupid things. Shocker.Originally posted by Bigfoot is Cain View PostI still think that it's pretty arrogant to put MBA after your name. If you're an expert in a case you should have received a retention letter. Just follow the form used by the retaining attorney.Originally posted by cowboy View PostSo do the attorneys here like to have Esq. behind their name in cover letters for expert witness reports? As to KK and the adage: I think half of it applies to her, anywayPLesa excuse the tpyos.

We in the Army are probably the most pretentious of all. We've got a regulation on just how all our official correspondence should look from the official letterhead, to putting our rank before our name, our branch (specialty) after, and our position underneath our name. Some of our rules are unique to the Army, and contradict normal writing rules.

I don't file court documents, but I have had the misfortune to review my fair share. In general, there is a direct relationship between lawyers who use ", Esq." after their name and the insecurity of that attorney. There are always exceptions, though. Of the confident attorneys who do use it, they are either over the age of 70 or douchebags.Last edited by Green Monstah; 04-24-2015, 07:38 AM.Jesus wants me for a sunbeam.

For any interested, those in my profession are no long officially referred to as "brokers". I never liked that term. It has broke in the word and the competition (banks) had "Trust" departments. I am not a fan of banks and never was.
We are Financial Advisors. I myself have the Title of Vice President - Financial Advisor, CFP, CPA, MBA. Actually I am a hell of a lot smarter than JL and his minions give me credit for.
P.S. The above may be a humblebrag, but not a solicitation. I am no longer accepting new clients.

I go back and forth on the idea ordaining LDS females.
In general, I think it's a good step for women in the faith.
On the other hand, Mormonism seems to have some fundamental beliefs about the nature of men & women that ordained women might not feel comfortable supporting.
LDS women asking for priesthood is a little like African Americans asking to join the Confederate army."More crazy people to Provo go than to any other town in the state."
