Done. Easiest money I'll ever hypothetically make.

      • This seems like the dumbest thing ever to fight for. If you want the Priesthood, you have to believe it's a real and valuable authority, right? And if you believe the Priesthood is real, then you have to believe the revelation upon which it's predicated is real, right? Well, revelation says women can't have it; at least not yet, or not in the same way those advocates seem to be asking/demanding-- and argument over.

So I guess you would only want the Priesthood as a woman if you don't believe it's real-- in which case, you don't really want the Priesthood, but a validation that you are just as important and influential as men. I think that if women feel that way, it's not the Priesthood that's lacking but the correct exercise thereof.

so after two paragraphs you finally figured it out. You think these women want "priesthood??"

Sometimes I guess I just have to spell it out for myself.

Sincere question here: Where is this revelation that says women can't have the priesthood?

It's implied because there isn't explicit revelation expanding or granting it, also by the fact we have living prophets who might have made mention by now that women have the right to receive the priesthood if it were so.

Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

Indeed. I was reading it earlier tonight. Really ugly.

Implied? If that is the case, don't you think it is a little disingenuous to refer to it as a specific revelation?

What do you think the probability is that women will have the priesthood within 15 years?

What do you think the probability is that gays will be married in the temple within 40 years?

I think the probability of both is probably near 100%, but that's just a guess.

Similarly, what do you think Mormons would have said about black men having the priesthood in 1938?
I think it's close to zero. I just don't think the leadership will do that. They really dug their heels in tonight, your buddy Oaks in particular. A bunch of the guys who are in the Q12 now will likely still be in the same positions in 15 years.

It will be interesting to see.
Will donate kidney for B12 membership.

That will be quite the pickle. A light saber fight would probably have to occur to settle it.

Yes it will. Saw this quote recently:

"The Church has no intention of changing its doctrine on the Negro. Throughout the history of the original Christian church, the Negro never held the priesthood. There's really nothing we can do to change this. It's a law of God." N Eldon Tanner - Seattle Magazine Dec 1967, p 60.
                              Ban overturned 11 years later.

Oaks will be dead in 8 years or so.
