Sh*t just got real. My wife is beside herself with anger today. I just saw her light up somebody in our stake for posting a link to a pretty lame blog and saying that all the OW people just need to pray about it more or something. Actual quote at the end of the rant:

I didn't appreciate this post much except as a reflection of how I used to think when I thought I knew everything.

On the other hand, you have folks insinuating that you're a bad parent (of daughters) if you don't support it, or don't care about it.

These type of "discussions" tend to bring out the worst in people...which is ironic since we have more in common than we don't.

Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

I haven't seen much of the type of criticism you mention, but I acknowledge that I've been avoiding comments sections and internet "conversations" on the subject since Monday. I think wherever people stand on difficult topics, it's important to approach others from a place of love and compassion. It's possible to vigorously disagree and not insult people, whoever they are.

                      That was a thoughtful response.
"Guitar groups are on their way out, Mr Epstein."

Upon rejecting the Beatles, Dick Rowe told Brian Epstein of the January 1, 1962 audition for Decca, which signed Brian Poole and the Tremeloes instead.

This better mean that a father's room is coming to our local chapels...

I think the idea of a parent's room is GENIUS. Like the rooms I've seen at other churches that have quiet toys and little tables for kids to color at, and a place to sit with napping babies. We're on the same page here, dude.

What discourages me to some point is the appearance that any concerns expressed tend to be responded in this fashion:

We are the Church's authorities and know what's best
Those who express themselves are not in concert with the Spirit (get in line)
Those who express any view different than ours are apostates to rot in hell
                            Nothing expressed has any validity

The response is almost always very, very defensive.

Agreed. It doesn't make for much exchange of ideas.
