Now, with respect to your question. First, I think my reply was perfectly tailord to 71's insinuation that unbelievers are taking the lazy way out.

If by "unbelievers" you are referring to those who don't believe in the LDS church, you have once again taken something I said and incorrectly judged the spirit in which it was given.
However, I shouldn't expect anything different as you rejected the Holy Ghost and the "gift of discernment" long ago.

This really sums up nicely what I think all of us have been trying to say.

Not all of us. Sounds like a made up or embellished story to me. One I wouldn't agree with even if true. It smacks of again approaching everyone else on the basis of "our" commandments are the "true" commandments.Originally posted by UtahDan View PostThis really sums up nicely what I think all of us have been trying to say.
While we believe that, it isn't incumbent on everyone else to believe it. For instance, someone grows up and just can't buy the JS story anymore. They then are sitting at a bar having a beer. "We", LDS folks point to him and say, see he just can't keep the WOW. That's why he is a Baptist.
I for one don't buy the, people leave the church because they can't keep the commandments scenario. I think it is more they don't want to and I don't need to believe otherwise to keep my own faith shored up.
If I misunderstood what you or grape was saying, correct me.

I'm pretty sure UtahDan was just having a bit of interplay fun with grapevine. Of course, I could let UD speak for himself, but what fun is there in that?Originally posted by byu71 View PostNot all of us. Sounds like a made up or embellished story to me. I originally read this as "You don't get old folks," and I was wondering if there was something there that went above my head, as in you were just yanking UD and Grape's chain. I was beginning to think that I had lost my reading comprehension. Then I realized that the sentance is supposed to read, "Don't get old, folks." and I felt much better. If it is otherwise don't let me know.Originally posted by byu71 View PostDon't get old folks. You end up missing out on so much of the subtle stuff.

Your second analysis was correct. When in doubt, you can assume I am not yanking anyone's chain. I don't do that kind of thing.Originally posted by I.J. My comments are like great literature. I intend for you to find your own meaning in them, so there really is no wrong answer as long as it is well reasoned.Originally posted by I.J.
