Did I hear Elder Bednar end his talk saying that maintaining chastity/virtue is the most important thing for members?

Here I've thought all along that the biggest sin was murder but I guess it's now second place.

Sex is NOT recreation, folks. It's the most important thing in the world.

I would agree with him, in the context of an epidemic of sexual immorality, it is the most important thing for members to worry about. Not many members struggle with murdering others.

The thing itself is absolutely insignificant. The only significance is the fact that it is a line that separates women and men. Men give prayers at general conference, and women do not. The outrage is over the fact that the line exists, not the subject matter regarding which the line is drawn.

It is not completely dissimilar to the gay marriage issue. In California, gays already have all of the rights incident to marriage except for the title of "marriage." They aren't fighting over being able to use that word, per se; they are fighting the distinction between homosexual and heterosexual couples, and the implicit message that the distinction conveys.

I think there are a lot of other things that are more important than sex and a whole lot of sins other than murder that I would put way ahead of fornication, certainly. I know Mormons have this obsession with sex though -- just didn't know it had risen to the level where chastity/virtue could be called the "most important" thing.

That's even worse if he was quoting Moroni 9:9 because doesn't that refer to women losing what is "most dear and precious" by being raped? Ridiculous. Rape victims should be told that they haven't lost anything.

Sounded like he said that chastity/virtue is the most dear and precious thing, not the most important thing. He did specifically mention that procreative powers are not just recreation.
