Probably. I mean who would ask an 8 year old such a question? Certainly not the church who claims 8 is the age of accountability (unless, of course, we're talking about sexuality, then even 12 is too young for accountability).

It would end up being a podcast on hobbies that I think are fun, or hobbies I think that would be fun if I had the time. An anti church or anti religion hobby just does not sound like fun. I like fun. Fun is good.

Love those guys, but not enough controversy to be a hot podcast. People are drawn to drama.

Ha, touche. I don't think the last time I swung around had anything to do with the Church (I could be wrong...can't remember), but this time, that funny FAIR response popped up on my facebook feed, and I got a little curious at what CS was saying. This is becoming a less and less interesting question, so I doubt I'll come back again, but the taste test question made this one worth it. We're copying that.

In general, I try to assume that people aren't dicks, and that they usually do bad things out of either ignorance or being put in a tough situation. I think the parents could be given this benefit of the doubt. I even think the SP counselor should be given the same. I'm sure that he, in any other circumstance, would have let her finish, and probably given her a big hug at the end, because that's what not-dicks do. Instead, he's been made into this evil villain figure, because he felt pressure to toe a line in a fight he otherwise probably couldn't give a rat's ass about. He's an adult, and sometimes adults have to do hard things, including standing up to your boss, or seriously considering what you're doing before you shut off about the most benign "attack" on the church I could imagine from a 12 yr old girl...so I'm not letting him totally off the hook, but he's also probably a really good guy, who was put into a really tough position.

Anyway, this is already way more energy than I ever wanted to put into this conflict among a bunch of people I don't know, so...cheers! See you in football season.
