Who Represents Mormons Well?

If I am reading the data correctly only 18% of mormons get a college degree compared to say Jews (24%), Orthodox (28%), and Hindus (26%). And of those only 10% of the mormons get a post-graduate degree compared to Jews (35%), Orthodox (18%), and Hindus (48%). It seems the Orthodox, Jews and Hindus value education more than mormons in general. At least the mormons are beating the Evangelical Church members, which is not saying much.

The graph is for highest education attained. So 18% have Bachelors and 10% have graduate degrees therefore 28% of members have college degrees of some sort.

No matter how you read it still seems to point to the same conclusion. Mormons get married young and drop out of school and, therefore, usually don't reach their full earning potential.

Maybe because of their arranged marriages. It is interesting that they also have the lowest percentage of divorce.

I know a few Hindu Indians and got some insight to how some of these arranged marriages work. In this case, the eligible son was a recent med-school graduate and he was given binders containing profiles of potential brides. He then selected a short list and then it was whittled down further by his parents. Then they flew off to India to do interviews with the brides and her parents - those who made the cut. The process was repeated again a few months later because there wasn't a good match. I've seen companies hire key executives with less effort. Anyway, it's no surprise to me about the low incidence of Hindu divorce having some personal insight into the process.

What an awesome system. I guess some feminist's would disagree, but think how great it would be for families and society in general.

If you add up the percentages for all educational categories (i only did this for mormons) it adds up to 99%, so I assume that these are simply statisticall groupings of the survey respondents and that there is no (or very little) overlap for those groupings. That would lead me to believe that 28% of mormons graduate college as opposed to the 18% that otherwise interpreted it might appear.

Actually, I think that all of the different tables of data will add up to 100% for each of the categories. Probably they just called and asked people these questions straight up and are just reporting the statistics in each bin.

Also, look at the age distribution table and you will see that mormons are among the 5 faiths with the largest sampling of 18-29 years of age. I would guess that some of the "some college" respondents are actively in college. Also again, you will note that the mormon survey respondents were 44% male and 56% female (HELLO POLYGAMY!!) which is a pretty darn big gap and would not lend to really great statistics on college education and possibly income.

Take these statistics with a grain of salt, because every fiber of my being tells me that mormons are super-awesome smart and $rich$ baby!
