Because the promise Jesus gave was tied only to faith in his name, that is the only requirement.

The word "priesthood" was actually added to existing revelations after the fact.

Priesthood was not used in the NT or New Covenant part of the Book of Mormon. If you can lay hands and perform an exorcism by the name of Jesus, you could certainly perform baptisms. The example of 3rd Nephi is good on two parts. He had authority to perform baptisms before Jesus arrived; and he was performing baptisms. Then, when Jesus arrived, Jesus gave him authority to baptize and he baptized those he had already baptized before Jesus arrived.

The baptism of Alma is of interest. The key there imo is there were witnesses.

If earth was like heaven, where things truly are held in common that would be wonderful, but the idea is never tied to one's salvation (Mormon exaltation). Tithing was under the Mosaic law and has no place in the New Covenant. I find it interesting that Jews do not pay tithes.

So do you just quote this to play cat-n-mouse games with LDS believers or do you think this was actually the word of God to Joseph?
David said when J.Smith was humble, his revelations were true, so discernment is needed for those non-BoM related revelations. I happen to believe that one was either a true admission or a true revelation.
