The worst part about being WML is the missionaries. Obviously, there are some cool Elders who come to the area occassionally, but as a rule, I can't stand them. Ours currently offend everyone and get really pushy. To top it off, they can't teach a lick.

I had a lesson in my house on Tuesday. They asked to have a serious investigator over. I welcomed the opportunity. The lesson was on the Law of Chastity. They opened like this. "Today's lesson is on the law of chastity. Here is a pamphlet. Bro. Monstah, can you explain to [Investigator] the law of chastity?" No warning whatsoever, and I had to talk chastity with a divorced father of two.

We had a pair like that come through our ward, and it literally took me a few months to get most of the members of the ward to let them back in their homes.

Any of the other WML's on here have a bi-monthly Stake meeting with a member of the HC and the rest of the WML's in your area?

          They are fun.

Topic for tonight...How do we go about getting the Ward Correlation group excited about missionary work.

          Should be hilarious.

I am not making this up: When my brother was WML in his singles ward here, they had a weekly missionary work conference call with the stake presidency and all the unit mission leaders. It was at 6:00 am on Friday. He bought a headset so he could call in and then lie in bed asleep.

In a month or two it's going to be 19, 20 & 21 yo elders and 19, 20 & 21 yo sisters. Missionary age convergence. The Myans were right!

In my stake we do everything for the missionaries except wipe their rear ends. They have dinner and rides assigned 5 days a week.

I had a good time with the elders tonight. We were driving down the street and I saw some ward kids so I rolled down the windows and cranked some gangsta rap up to 11.

Then we went to dinner at a mexican restaurant and I paid the waitress on the sly and then dashed while she (my partner in crime) presented them with a tab for $40. I wasn't in the restroom and when they checked the parking lot, my SUV was gone.

                  Good times!

Bi-monthly?? Mine are weekly. I never go, though.

I am sure that the difficulty of the position depends on the needs of the ward. Primary president would be very difficult in a young ward with 70 plus kids. Young mens and young womans can be difficult for the same reason. But in every ward that I have been in, the EQP would not even be in the top 5. I would put the executive secretary above the EQP. Just my opinion.

We have a large Primary, but lots of help too. The PriPrez seem to sit in the back of the room and chat.

I was Exec Secretary in a large Utah County ward and EQP in my current inner-city branch. There was no comparison in my mind. At least with Exec Secretary there was a defined list of things I could conceivably get done. With EQP it never slowed down no matter how hard I worked. I also worked for a great Bishop as Exec Secretary so I'm sure that helped.

Edit: Exec Secretary makes for long Sundays and maybe one other night to Bishop-sit during interviews. But EQP is always on call and is the first priesthood leader called into action when anything is needed. Also, to bring this thread full circle, EQP is the lucky one that gets to try and fill all those "assignments". No, thank you.

When my younger brother was called to be the EQP his bishop asked him if he knew what the difference between his calling as bishop and my brother's new calling. When my brother said, "No", the bishop replied, "The difference between your calling and mine is that nobody prays for the Elders Quorum President."

                                From my personal experience:

                                Most time demanding priesthood callings:
                                1) Bishop
                                2) Seminary Teacher
                                3) Bishopric member
                                4) YM President
                                5) EQP
                                6) Scoutmaster
                                7) WML

                                Most emotionally demanding priesthood callings:
                                1) Bishop
                                2) WML -probably not for everyone, but this was tough on me. It might have been the ages of my kids or the concurrent work demands. But it was a hard 2 years
                                3) EQP- Hey by the 3rd time around, I was almost average at it
                                4) I've never been one, but I think it would be hard for me to handle
                                5) Every other calling has it's challenges, but I don't think any of the other ward callings would cause me too many sleepless nights.
