Just to clarify, the Saratoga springs fire is not done. It is 80% contained as of about an hour ago and the evacuation orders have been lifted, but it is still going.
The news is showing images from the Hwy 89 fire east of nephi. Very sad stuff. Lots of retired folks and ranchers are losing structures, land is being scorched, and people can only sit from afar and watch things burns.
Also, those summer thunderstorms that I referenced earlier....unfortunately, they are dry thunder storms. Yikes. That is the last thing needed right now.

CO is getting hit something fierce too. I have a couple friends out of The Springs who have been evacuated.
One posted on his FB that 50% of all the fire suppression equipment in the nation is in CO right now.
EDIT: Pic Taken of Garden of the Gods he posted on FB

Thanks for the clarification... from my neighborhood in SS (far from the fire) it looks like it is totally out. Guess not.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostJust to clarify, the Saratoga springs fire is not done. Nope... we live in the most isolated neighborhood of SS. We are forgotten over here. We don't even have an SS zip code. We have a Lehi zip code and our back yard fence is the border. Needless to say, we never put Saratoga Springs on any of our correspondences. I put Lehi for everything.Originally posted by Shaka View PostYou must live over in Harvest Hills.

Several homes have burned. Many, many homes are still in danger. Barring some weird winds, I'm out of danger. North part of the ward has lost power. Will be 3 weeks until restored."I'm going to go back to CUF now, where the censorship is less, the average IQ is higher, and we don't have to deal with so much of this nonsense. I'm sorry you are going through this. I went through a natural disaster and it took us over a year to clean up the mess.Originally posted by The Fourth Nephite View PostSeveral homes have burned. I HIGHLY recommend you get a generator and have an electrician install a power switch so you can feed the house with it, if needed."Don't expect I'll see you 'till after the race"

Natural disasters are awful in part because of the waiting and worrying. Here's hoping for some rain.Originally posted by The Fourth Nephite View PostSeveral homes have burned. On the news tonight, interviews with folks in sanpete county...many of them have lost everything. The saddest part of the interview is a makeshift tent township that has popped up in a large field....people being interviewed about losing everything they have, including their home, their only shelter a donated tent in the background.
Where the heck is the rain?

In this case, the ward is, for the most part, identical to the area affected by the fire. I consider all my neighbors, whether LDS or not, to be in my ward.Originally posted by smokymountainrain View PostI'll say a prayer for your community/neighborhood, not just your ward. Crazy that you might be having a new one pop up in your area. Good luck with it.
The new fire, if it is one, is at least 20 miles away.
Thanks for your prayers and good thoughts. Go firefighters!Last edited by The Fourth Nephite; 06-26-2012, 12:27 PM."I'm going to go back to CUF now, where the censorship is less, the average IQ is higher, and we don't have to deal with so much of this nonsense. Goodbye." - SoonerCoug
