League officials took a vote and refused to allow the team into the league. The league's president said members of the church are still welcome to play in the league, just not as a team.

Just something I think about. I've told people I consider myself Christian but that I don't believe in God or that Jesus died for my sins. Those people tell me I'm not Christian. We did that in our stake basketball league for the local assembly of god church. Worked out great. Not really a relevant question given that stake leagues are set up geographically by wards. Stake leagues don't have open enrollment for people putting together a team of players from anywhere inside the stake.
