I think the etoh ban in the church is questionable, but OK. Smoking ban is right on and a great decision. Coffee ban is purely cultural interpretation and should absolutely be reconsidered if further prospective RCT research validates this cohort study. Everytime physicians ask me why I don't drink coffee I give the same answer and it just makes our religion seem rediculous. This is my opinion; I'm curious to hear others' opinions on here about this.

We are basing tennets of our religion upon beliefs from Church leaders from 100 years ago and medical knowledge at the time, when physicians caused more harm than good. Time to move forward on this issue.
Yes, we do. Drink coffee and your risk of death drops below 1.0.

My mom likes to use this "coffee needs so much sugar to make it taste good" line as another justification for why its bad. She says this as she pops another Hershey's Kiss.

Sugar ruins coffee. I like mine with cream only.
What's to explain? It's a bunch of people, most of whom you've never met, who are just as likely to be homicidal maniacs as they are to be normal everyday people, with whom you share the minutiae of your everyday life. It's totally normal, and everyone would understand.

It would be important to see the test parameters, and to see what competing tests show. How can consuming that much caffeine be positive in one's health?

It's got to be bad for the teeth and stomach lining?

Does it affect the quality of life? Do increased headaches attributable to heavy caffeine consumption figure in?

This is in addition to recent research linking coffee consumption to reduced risk of prostate cancer. Utah leads the nation in low rates of most types of cancer, but we are at or near the bottom in prostate cancer.

Hell, I don't know. I just know my risk of death is now less than non-coffee drinkers.

Now, if something could be done about the risk of taxes...

Just as a random musing, how different is coffee now chemically compared to the mid-1800s?

It is interesting to learn which Cuffers have bad breath drink coffee regularly.

Chemically? Coffee beans are grown, harvested, roasted and ground. I guess flavored coffees may have chemicals. Are you referring to pesticides and fertilizers used to grow the beans?

I have a toothbrush toothpaste and mouthwash at work for this purpose. Coffee does give bad breath, but no more so than people who eat raw onions on their burgers and salads...

I'm talking about the end product. Whatever makes its way into the average cup. Its probably too broad a question to answer anyway since not all coffee is created equal.
