For some reason, you intentionally left off options that others might consider essential in order to vote. I can't vote in your poll because if those were the only two options for my child, I simply wouldn't care if he were an inactive mormon or an active member of the RLDS church. My only answer would be whichever option brings her the most happiness and helps her live a Christlike life.

Holy cow, Mom. Stop lurking and start posting.

I see your point. I just figure that if a person is an active Mormon, then RLDS is the next closest thing.

I'm holding off on my vote. I'm still pondering the ramifications of each though provoking choice.

this is why I asked why. I ended up voting with the tribe, but to be honest, if my kids weren't going to be Mormon (LDS) then I would want them to be whatever they wanted and whatever would make them happy.

Knock it off. This board has enough problems without a dose of middle-age lechery.

I thought that might be what you were getting at.

If I had to vote, I would vote for - based on what I know about my kids - inactive LDS because I think that would make them most happy. But what the hell do I know?

The question is far too simplistic. Does inactive mean they just stop going to Church? What if they decide to completely reject religion. Stop praying? Stop believing in God? What if they decide to start drinking? I could keep going.

But if all you're asking is what people would think if their children just stop going to Church but don't change anything else, then it's a pretty useless question.

Why the RLDS (C of C) and not, say, the Methodist? I met some RLDS missionaries a while back when they did the "without purse or script" thing and thought they were crazy. I have lots of Methodist friends and they seem pretty well grounded (compared to the RLDS, Baptists, JWs, etc.) and have great scout troops, nice hospitals, and a good university here in Dallas. I would have no problems with my kid going to SMU. What does the RLDS (C of C) have to offer?

Oh, man, if my mom came here it would be the end of this board. Raise a prayer to the heavens that it never happens.

End of the board? No way. It would be awesome. I am praying that it happens.

I gotta be honest, if I weren't LDS Mormon I'd be Catholic.
