Why Mormons Leave

I can't believe no one has commented on this. This is the Ensign advocating simply loving an apostate spouse. Love over belief. Something we have argued about here interminably here. It would be better out of the mouth of a GA in conference, but this is the first time the message has been delivered. This is going to save a whole bunch of marriages, IMO.

You made the right choice. Harmons is awesome.Originally posted by Non Sequitur View PostI don't know. Leaving Smiths was kind of traumatic. I don't go around telling everyone I know that is still mormon and still associates with me (basically just family) why I left. I told them once, and that is proper and sufficient, IMO. However, when faced with mormonism so constantly and so overtly, it is hard to not remind them that that ship has sailed and that I am out and with good reason. I also want them to understand the reasons I did what I did so they can move past their hopes that I'll pull a prodigal son routine and get on with the business of just being family/friends.Originally posted by byu71 View PostI think I made it clear, but I will reiterate, I am talking about a select few. Of my many friends who have chosen to no longer practice, only 1 is obsessed with letting those of us who still consider ourselves in, know why we are up in the night.
But, that is just me...internet persona aside, I don't go around constantly reminding mormons that I'm not anymore and why.Don't worry about people stealing your ideas. If your ideas are any good, you'll have to ram them down people's throats.

Sir, you want instruction. Go to Harmons. Get some shredded Parmesan Reggiano and Romaine. Go to the deli and get some London Port and smoked gouda. Go to the bakery and get some fresh ciabatta. Go home, make a ceasar salad, roast beef sandwich, and then tell me you prefer Macey's.Originally posted by atheistcougar View PostMeh, we preferred Macey's...Last edited by Non Sequitur; 06-21-2012, 11:11 AM."The mind is not a boomerang. I'll stick with Hy-Vee and Price Chopper. They are a lot closer...Originally posted by Non Sequitur View PostSir, you want instruction. Go to Harmons. Get some shredded Parmesan Reggiano and Romaine. I would like to remind everyone that I am out because of carpet on the gym floor. No loving God would do that. Some times it is important to take a stand for what is right AC.Originally posted by atheistcougar View PostI don't go around telling everyone I know that is still mormon and still associates with me (basically just family) why I left. You will be pleased to know that the church is moving away from carpeted gyms and are replacing them with hardwood. There is hope for you yet!Originally posted by UtahDan View PostI would like to remind everyone that I am out because of carpet on the gym floor. No loving God would do that. Because the meeting finally ended.
Any more questions?Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!
For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."
