Until you've experienced the enthusiasm of brand new church members singing up tempo (i know, i know) hymns in africa, you've not really experienced religious fervor.

I remember that one. I recall a WML who would sing it with exceptional fervor.

Doccoug at one point resembled a young Tom Cruise, I've always been pretty unattractive but Hottie's look-a-like is somewhat of an enigma. Imagine, perhaps, a jewish Cindy Crawford?

Fortunately, it's still in the German hymn book.

The Tab Choir still sings "Come Thou Fount." It's a great hymn. I think it was a mistake to remove it and I bet it will come back in a future edition. The reason for the hymn's removal was that it was thought to be too difficult for congregations to sing. Dumb reason.

So do I. Great hymn, great arrangement, great performance. The author, Robert Robinson, was an interesting guy.

I'm not saying the Kolob song should stay, but I've never heard it sung in sacrament meeting. Even active Mormons are afraid of Kolob whereas we rarely blink an eye at Praise to the Man. If Kolob got as much play in sacrament meeting then I'd agree it should be booted. In a sense we self-correlate.

We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

For some reason, we sang it all the time in ones of my singles wards. In regular old family wards, never to my recollection. "If You Could Hie to Kolob" is one weird ass song. (It's sort of charming that even in its weird ass nature, it made it into the hymnal. )

I do like the song "O My Father," though. It's one that's also not been sung often in the wards I've attended.
