"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf
Without proper permits and interviews it might not happen.

Upon rejecting the Beatles, Dick Rowe told Brian Epstein of the January 1, 1962 audition for Decca, which signed Brian Poole and the Tremeloes instead.
So did you show up early and set out your family's scriptures to reserve a place in front in the soft seats and then go back home? This is what usually happens in my stake. I show up to see all these scriptures reserving my favorite seats by the door but no owners.
Once I took the scriptures to the lost and found box. The family showed up right before the meeting is to start and asked me if I had seen their scriptures. I said something like, "Man, I hate when I lose my scriptures. Did you check the lost and found?" My wife was embarrassed and made me promise not to do that again so now we just sit in the very back usually which has better access to the exits anyway.

Hey, there are a few older men in my ward that could kill a vampire with how boring their talks can be. I am sure a stake presidnet could easily just assign such individuals to fillibuster any group to tears and have them racing to the doors in a matter of hours.

That is awesome.

I had no idea that people did this until just a couple weeks ago. I went to a presthood meeting that got over an hour before Stake conference. As soon as the meeting ended, women and children came bounding into the chapel to put down scriptures and coats on the pews. I was dumbfounded. Those are some dedicated people. I went home and didn't return for stake conference.

Why would I want to sit close to the front? When you have little kids the back of the cultural hall is perfect. The hard chairs make for a great hard surface for drawing/coloring and there is a lot of room to spread out. Next time I'm actually considering moving to the Spanish translation room, which was in the nursery (food permitted in there), as it looked like they were having a sort of quasi-fiesta.

I wonder if your stake will do what your neighbor's stake is now doing. Only half the stake gets invited to the stake conference building for SC. The other half is assigned to attend other buildings where they watch via a video feed. It used to be two sessions of SC were held and the stake was split between sessions.
So yesterday at SC, we finally got a new SP. He'd been serving as SP for almost 10 years and was in the Stake Presidency for 8 years before that under a SP who also served for about 10 years. The just called SP has been serving in the Stake Presidency for about 8 years. His first counselor has been serving with him for at least the past 5 years under the previous SP. I lay 2-3 odds that he will be the next SP 10 years from now. The new counselor in the SP has to be thinking he could in the Stake Presidency for 10-20 years. At least the visiting GA called it "unusual".

We are doing what are our neighbors do now. At the last SC the internet video feed went down right in the middle of the meeting so our family went home early. Yet another reason to sit close to the exit.

Wow! President W. finally got release? Just when I was thinking that being a SP was a lifetime calling around here. So you are saying that President W. was replaced with one of his counselors? Which? President J. or President F?

I am old and like those soft seats.
Edit: The spanish translation room is a good idea. It would help me work on my spanish other than the swear words.
