Trunk or treats are f-ing lame.

And, yes, I do have small children.

Talk about robbing kids of one of the most enduring memories from childhood.

Enjoy the exhaust fumes and trunk lights, kiddies...

Halloween is effin' lame. I don't understand why adults get into it except for the opportunity for single men to be around single women who use it as a chance to let their inner slut out.

Really isn't this and free candy for kids reason enough to love Halloween.

This story belongs in the Utah is Weird thread. It's shocking how much tension exists between mormons and non-mormons in Utah.

Yeah doesn't make a lot of sense, but this is from the same people that protest Harry Potter as being satanic. Or maybe there is some completely different reason. You guys should ask, I would be curious to know.

Nope, those are all dumber costumes but cross dressing is still lamer and lazier.

You must be fun to be around a party.

I have never had a Trunk or Treat activity on Halloween, although I have seen them at other churches. I agree that if Trunk or Treat is on Halloween, it is lame.

I don't know. No one ever invites me to a party

Our ward had a trunk or treat on Halloween one year. We boycotted the whole thing and went trick-or-treating on our own. Trick-or-treating is a big thing in Houston because it's so warm everybody is out having a good time. We wanted to join in on the party instead of going to the ward house for the trunk or treat. I'm not a big fan of being in isolationist.

We had a guy in our ward come as Little Red Riding hood. Everyone laughed nobody was offended that I know of. Also the bishop came as Homer Simpson and wore a mask.

I also think that it is kind of funny that we teach our kids not to take candy from strangers, except for this one day per year where you can go to all the strangers houses you want and ask for candy.

Exhaust fumes. are all the cars running during trunk or treat?

ToT is awesome because it is basically a second night of candy for the kids plus the adults can vocalize and socialize with ward friends, hot divorced moms, etc and feel safe that the kids are ok.
                              Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

Despite the adage that the Church is the same anywhere you go, it's amazing how different things are from ward to ward throughout the Church. Every Halloween, the ward I grew up in sets up a tent on the lawn outside the chapel and gives out hot dogs, hot chocolate and cider to trick or treaters. They project Halloween movies on the side of the building. The bishop in my last ward owned a company that put on haunted houses. Some wards and leaders seem to pretend the holiday doesn't exist while others are completely freaked out about it.

It's sad how insular some people seem to be getting these days. Halloween is a great example of these types overreacting and depriving themselves and others of some of good, wholesome fun. Yeah, there's a lot of people who turn good things into an opportunity for debauchery, but the Saints should be leading the charge in creating something good in the world, not just fighting against the bad.
