What does that mean?
"Be a philosopher. A man can compromise to gain a point. It has become apparent that a man can, within limits, follow his inclinations within the arms of the Church if he does so discreetly." - The Walking Drum
"And here’s what life comes down to—not how many years you live, but how many of those years are filled with bullshit that doesn’t amount to anything to satisfy the requirements of some dickhead you’ll never get the pleasure of punching in the face." – Adam Carolla
"Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance and the gospel of envy; its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." - Winston Churchill

I agree that people cheat for a variety of reasons, and I'm sure it's often a situation where there are a number of reasons that work together to cause the infidelity, but I don't know if any of the scenarios you suggested have much to do with me.
I am still dealing with a lot of issues and am not sure I could make it without a very special friend that knows the entire story, has never judged me once, and has been there for me at every turn. He is an amazing person that has taught me so much about true Christlike love. He knows who he is.
In addition, I have been extremely lucky to have a bishop who is AMAZING!!! The first time I ever met him was the day that I confessed some pretty heavy things. He had been a Bishop for exactly 1 week and I'm sure was blown away with some of the things I told him, but he has been amazing.
Unfortunately many of my family and friends have totally shunned me and it hurts me intensely, but as I said, they have to make their own choices. As you can imagine, this has been a very difficult time in my life, and it's not getting any easier yet, but I am really trying to make life as good as possible.
You folks are great. I am pleasantly surprised at the lack of judgmental arrogance that is present on this board compared to CB. No way would I ever tell a story such as this over there. Anyway, thanks to all of you.
If your wife did to you what you did to her (sorry I went Karl Malone on you), could you forgive her ? Could you forget? Two different issues.
Well, since I have never said what actually happened in my case, and since nobody truly knows, I guess I can honestly say that YES, I would forgive my wife if she did the same thing. However, she and I have a very interesting relationship that is different from nearly every other marriage that I know much about. If I do end up getting divorced, I can assure you it will have zero to do with whether or not my wife can forgive me - It will definitely be because I cannot forgive myself and/or come to terms with the situation fully.
