    Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

Everybody be nice. Wherever these fine young dental students went to school, it is apparent they were not educated how one should behave in polite society.

My Neighbor was an extreme outlier.

Or the stories about their behavior are made up and/or exaggerated. There's always that.

No freaking way! Everybody hated them. They were horrid, imposing Mormons, all from BYU, without an ounce of tolerance for the beliefs and practices of others. They have stained us all.

I just hope they moved back to the Wasatch Front so their intolerance can be contained.

I already said it wasn't all of the LDS students, just some of them, that were jackasses. I never said they were all from BYU.

Maybe the paranoid persecution complex is part of the reason some people are put off by some Mormons.

Talk about misleading ... congregants are being reprimanded for what, exactly?

Her article is myopic: lacking tolerance or understanding; narrow-minded ... focused too much on a view of the world unique to Utah.
It's misleading in that we show a face to the world that we encourage and embrace diversity on the one hand, while on the other, we're telling women how many holes they can have in their ears. We love that we can claim the ear-ringed, goateed skater as our own, but said skater would be discouraged or even prevented from passing or blessing the sacrament in many wards (only in our provincial Utah wards of course--that would never happen in the enlightened rest of the world...) and wouldn't be allowed to enroll at our flagship university.

Again, she's not claiming that these aren't genuine members of the church--she's just pointing out that we don't promote this diversity within the membership. I think she's spot on, but even if you disagree with her, she's hardly myopic.
At least the Big Ten went after a big-time addition in Nebraska; the Pac-10 wanted a game so badly, it added Utah

The goateed skater would never pass the sacrament in my South Carolina ward. You want hardline??? Try 7th-generation SOUTHERN Mormons.

Said skater could pass or bless the sacrament in my Sandy, UT ward and can attend the temple anywhere in the world - as often as he wants.

As far as the skater being able to enroll at "our" flagship university...that's a joke in and of itself. The person whom our church was named for - as far as we know Him, wouldn't be able to attend there. That's an entirely different issue, IMO. You can be a perfect member of the church, hold the priesthood and participate in all of the ordinances without ever stepping one foot on the BYU campus. The "Honor" code is an embarrassment.

Were there any Weber State graduates among the offenders?

A skater, similar to the one you reference, is a returned missionary, newly temple wed and currently teaching my 11 year old in Primary in my Ward.

And yes, she does call into question the genuine nature of the members in the ads by stating:

Surely, the stated spiritual beliefs of the people in the “I’m a Mormon” ads are authentic and heart-felt.
We need look no further than the following statement to confirm that she is woefully myopic:

The disparity between the image my church is trying so hard to convey to the world and the image local members are being told they must adhere to within their small ward boundaries is a bit unnerving.
Your continued defense of her article is getting ridiculous.
