Starting off with Dieter "Mr. Handsome" Uchtdorf.
"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

Sister Stevens coordinated her dress well with the backdrop.

The sister version of General Conference voice is like nails on a chalkboard.

I heard Pres. Monson say Idaho but the kids were being rowdy so I didn't hear the city. I assumed Coeur d'Alene or somewhere in the panhandle but a few minutes later my Mother-in-Law called to talk about it. We were surprised because the Boise temple is so close.

I told my wife we really have no excuse for not attending now. The Boise temple is only about 10 minutes away--who knows how close the Meridian temple will be (I'm guessing it will be farther west so it may be just as far or farther from my house as the Boise temple).

I hope it's farther west. My inlaws would appreciate that since they currently drive 1 hour to Boise.

Why is it that Mormonism in practice seems so different than General Conference talks? I hear these talks and then I think of stuff like the Davie's incident, Prop 8, and the justice/fire and brimstone focus of so many Mormons and I don't get it.

                          Culture vs. doctrine, perhaps?

That's what it seems like to me. But then I have been slammed for saying that.

We likely don't change as quickly as we should. I wonder if we are the way we are because of past he'll-fire talks. It's clear the themes and delivery are more reduced nowadays.
