This board's population likes to use the "F-word" if possible in a tirade. If I were you I would have gone with "If you weren't such a stupid fuck you would realize that ..." instead of "Unlike your stupid ass," I think it would have read much better. Finally, "asshole" at the end sounds redundant again. I would have gone with "shit-head" for pure diversity purposes.
Good luck with your next angry rant.

That one made me laugh. Surely a bumper sticker worthy of inclusion in someone's stocking this Christmas.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostJerks for Jesus"Either evolution or intelligent design can account for the athlete, but neither can account for the sports fan." - Robert Brault

This is obviously a pointless debate with an ignorant chap who doesn't acknowledge that a key doctrinal point of the Church is revelation. Not just personal revelation, which you seem to solely rely on, but also revelation given to those in decision making positions.Originally posted by BlueHair View PostKindly show me where I stated I would dismiss a leaders counsel with no thought. Here is what I said:
You then told me my problem is that I think I would know what a horrible idea is. This implies that I am too stupid to think for myself. God gave all of us brains. Brains aren't only given out to people in leadership positions. I choose to actually think about things I'm told rather than "bow my head and say yes". If you never think about counsel given, you would never recognize if someone was exercising unrighteous dominion.
Oh, by the way, you should check with your bishop to find out if it's okay to quote scripture and swear in the same post. I'm thinking it's probably not appropriate, but I haven't heard my bishops opinion yet. Once he tells me that, I will fast and pray for a few weeks before I decide.
I apologize for citing D&C, obviously that book is no more or less inspired than your great words.

This was once an interesting thread about church leaders and inspiration. Sigh.“There is a great deal of difference in believing something still, and believing it again.”

If the church ever wanted to appear more urban and gritty, SloanHater's manifesto could be turned into a new verse for How Firm a Foundation
Sloanhater's lyrics for the new verse and the corresponding portion of the first verse in parentheses:
Knee jerk reactions, I must overcome. ("How firm a foundation, ye saints of the Lord")
I fight the carnal man, unlike your stupid ass. ("Is laid for your faith in His excellent Word!")
So let me edu-cate your dumbass forthwith. ("What more can He say than to you He hath said")
Congrats, you Ass-hole, Congrats, you Ass-hole! ("Who unto the Savior, who unto the Savior")
Congrats you Ass-hole who cares not what your leaders say. ("Who unto the Savior to refuge have fled")
I need to probably use more creative license in changing up some of the words so the syllables work a bit better. But I have to counterbalance that with staying true to SH's source material, syntax error and all.Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

A very good attempt. Also need to consider the ryhmes.Originally posted by Color Me Badd Fan View PostIf the church ever wanted to appear more urban and gritty, SloanHater's manifesto could be turned into a new verse for How Firm a Foundation

Why does it upset you that I don't believe that a leader is more inspired than anyone else? The Stake President doesn't have time to think as much about my family as I do. It makes sense that I would be better positioned to make decision about my family than he would. He is free to make all the decisions in regards to organization and procedures of the stake. When it comes to family issues, my wife and I have final say.Originally posted by SloanHater View PostThis is obviously a pointless debate with an ignorant chap who doesn't acknowledge that a key doctrinal point of the Church is revelation. Ha. You should see me upset.
You made a ludicrously stupid comment about Church leaders receiving no more or no less revelation than the average moron, you. If you now want to qualify your statement and reduce the sphere of revelation to that of your family, I might tend to agree with you. However, I'd still argue that God has seemingly called Prophets to declare revelation that may supersede your patriarchal authority. Every major religion believes this doctrine.
All you have to do is admit that you made a stupid comment and weren't clear on your thoughts. So man up, bitch.
