  • Missionaries just called me...

Asking to to go out with them... at the same time as the BYU/Utah game. I politely told them no thanks, I was busy.

They then asked me to DVR the game.

I, somewhat less politely, told them that I'd already told them no thanks, that I was busy.

On the plus side, they probably won't call me to go out with them again. On the negative side, I might be going to Hades. So BYU better win today, at least.

ha ha ha! That's some nerve. What better use of their time than to go on splits and get twice as many doors slammed in their faces during game time. Missionaries can really be retards sometimes.

Crap, that was a test from God and you failed. Now we are going to get blown out.
"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

Maybe you jumped the gun, dude... they were probably wanting you to DVR the game for them to watch later.

If they would man up and just ask me to DVR it for them, I would.

If they were trying to concoct a ruse to get to watch the game, they should be punished for their lack of forthrightness.

(Is "forthrightness" a Todd Christensen-style made up word?)

We are in a small branch where the missionaries have the attitude of demanding a lot of things from the few active members at the most inconvenient times. I don't feel bad at all for turning them down, I'm not obliged to say "how high?" every time a 19 year old says jump.

              Update

I just called the missionaries back and invited them and their investigators to come over and watch the game. They are going to call me back.

I just wanted to thank SJS for clinching this W for the Utes by not living right off the field.

I live in Michigan, but we don't share our building with any other ward.
