It's not unlike my roommate at BYU who constantly talked about how much he hated it there. It wasn't like he didn't have other options. I never understood why he'd want to be in a place that caused him such obvious stress.

See above. No offense was intended. And the question was more general than specific to Jay. I fully endorse fishing, however.
The question implies a narrow view of the questioner and a little bit of a manipulation to comply, but I don't mind it.

Reading my religion posts on CUF would definitely leave you with a distorted view of how I feel about the church. I have lots of avenues to discuss the areas the church enriches my life. Sorry if it's grinding to read all the negative.

The church is a net positive in my life. But behind that statement is a complicated mess which I don't care to get into and which you wouldn't understand even if I did.

This is a fair question and one that used to rattle around in my head when I was new to this board. Now I see CUF as a place where people can try out their ideas, air their frustrations, and open up a bit to others who understand, are willing to try to understand, or who simply are willing to listen. Being understood (or heard) is powerful stuff and we all need it. So just because someone vents about how the club works doesn't mean he/she doesn't want to be in the club. It probably means they want to be heard, and to exchange ideas.

Hmmm. We don't want to start pressuring for political correctness around here, do we? Azzuri shouldn't feel like he'll be criticized for asking that question.

That was just a personal opinion. As are the vast majority of my posts.

You don't make me squirm. I realize I don't post here a lot, but I share many of the same questions that are often posed here.

The question came from curiosity, nothing more.

Oh OK. Bad assumption by me.

I think that most people who complain about the Church still view it as a net positive. I view the Church as a net positive, but I'm a hypercritical person. I think a lot of criticism is justified, though.

I'm not disagreeing. It was unfair of me to say that I wasn't judging and then call it a net-negative, rather than let people state whether it is or isn't for themselves.

Perhaps it's just recent personal events, but I think that life is short and happiness/peace should be paramount. Hence the question.

Apologies. No harm intended, the wording choice was poor.
