    The Official Patriarchal Blessing Thread

This is the place to share interesting tidbits from your patriarchal blessings.

I'll start. CardiacCoug's patriarchal blessing said he would serve his mission in a country where the gospel had not previously been preached, and he ended up getting sent to the former soviet union in the early 90s. This almost made me question my non-testimony.

I cried the entire way through my patriarchal blessing because I was so freaked out.

Interesting that you should start a thread about what's in YOUR patriarchal blessing (subject matter which some would argue is far too personal for open discussion of this sort) by talking about what's in somebody else's.

Mine says I'll "serve many missions" and "preside over the quorums of the church," among other things. I can't wait!

No standard disclaimer about any of that being conditioned upon your personal choices?

I don't have my blessing on me right now, but I can't wait to go home and get it so I can post a lot of the details here for everyone to see. Stay tuned.

Yes, of course there is. I was being facetious.

Mine warns me not to share it with others.

In all honesty, I have two patriarchal blessings!

I honestly don't read mine anymore. I have screwed up so many times in my life that I don't expect it will come true or that is a good reason why it hasn't.

My patriarch was so inspired, they kept him in his calling until he died.

I don't feel comfortable sharing my patriarchal blessing, but I will share this tidbit from my Daily Horoscope for Monday, October 11 2010:

You have a good attitude and others notice your willingness to lend a helping hand, regardless of your own progress. Balance is very important.

Mine tells me that I was so valiant in the preexistence that the reason for my coming to earth was merely to get a body....everything else is just gravy.

"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

My patriarch said that I would own vast tracts of land with countless numbers of cattle. Also, he said that there was a senator from Tennessee that was inventing on a new form of communication that would bring me great fame and popularity. Unfortunately, the tape recorder must not have been working properly, because those parts didn't make it into the written blessing.

I'm sitting in jury duty right now and an attorney asked a prospective juror if he had any issues with the laws or the enforcement of such laws in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. He simply stated no but all things from Tennessee is of the devil! It seems your patriarch was truly inspired.
