First let me be clear I am not advocating for polygamy. Second, Polygamy being reinstated as I mentioned in the other poll is different as its in the open as all parties would have to be willing participants. The poll was split 50/50.

Your poll as you mentioned would have one of the parties not having consent. Again I ask What man (or woman) would be ok with that?

Polyandry may not have been widely or even open practiced, but it did occur in the early church. The article lists a number of other women purported to already have husband who also married Joseph.
Geez, Ms. Rollins sure was a tease in her old age.

Not at all! Polyandry is perfect. Women, as you know, are natural nurturers. We often suffer because we're not given enough opportunities to nurture the harsher sex. Polyandry would allow us to use our inborn talents AND remain virtuous. It distresses me to hear anyone call an inspired practice "treacherous and cult-like."

Please note that I said "as you described" referring to JL original post. Without the consent of one of the spouse is treacherous and cult-like.

Well in many cases the woman involved in polygamy were told that they either agree to it or face eternal damnation (one of my issues with polygamy). Some of them were underage. So I think the term "consent" gets a little fuzzy.

Well my original poll said they had to be consenting adults. I will again say I am not advocating for polygamy or polyandry. I read in an other thread where you said you were gone if polygamy was reinstated. I decided to poll the people and see if polygamy was reinstated in pretty much the only feasible way it could modernly would people leave the church.

I never thought you were advocating for anything.

Yeah, I get it. You are asking if we would be OK with a cleaned-up, modernized version of polygamy. In other words, something that had been properly fixed by the Correlation Dept.

The sex part is the only thing that skeeves me out. I don't need a tunnel buddy, thanks.

Polygamy is a different discussion for the same set of reasons, but different decision maker.

HEY! I did that to match MRD's title. Take it up with him.

I don't know if that's the same article I read, but the one I did, while not coming right out and saying it, suggested that Joseph started doing the "test of faith" thing after being turned down and exposed by one wife he had tried to get to marry him without her husband's consent. IIRC, up until that point he had not been turned down by anyone he had approached (that we know of).

Polyandry is the only thing that makes sense with quantum mechanics. It's quite possible that I'm actually sealed to thousands of different women in different dimensions, and that my wife is sealed to thousands of men. Regardless of the ultimate future reality, I'm going to be prepared with at least having considered the possibility.

Can you imagine Joseph trying to teach multiple universes to the 1830's crowd, let alone us today.

I don't recall if it mentioned that at all, but it's an interesting nuance.

I can't imagine how that conversation would go. "By the way, God wants me to marry your wife."

                              "Whaaaaaaaa?"

"Just kidding. Had to test your faith."
