I find it inspiring that people hear messages about love and fellowship and then immediately try to put that into practice. ymmv

Haha! Make it a group text and include me.

No one texts me. I guess that means I didn’t have friends or they recognize that I’m a complete lost cause.

Maybe I'm just a bad member because I don't feel like awkward texts will be the hook that brings my friends back who have stepped away.

We don't need to text you. You come to us.

That’s fair. If you find value in the opinion of one who has left, and is on the receiving end of outreach efforts, I’ll tell you that reaching out solely on conference days feels less about our friendship and more about your religion. ymmv

Where do I lodge my complaint about not getting any texts during GC weekend?

Like I said, it's not something that upsets me and I always respond to them positively. It's just a phenomenon that I find interesting.

Do you think if Pres Nelson had still been alive more temples would have been announced?

Great point. What a piece of trash that was. Or at least the first half of it.

(Note: Please do not interpret that statement as a positive commentary on the second half of Lincoln in the Bardo. I am in no way saying the second half of the book was good. I am also not saying it was bad. It could be the greatest second half of a book that ever was. But there is no way I could know that, as the first half was so bad I chose not to read the second half of the book.)

My guess is yes. That's not to say the work of building temples has slowed down, but rather an adjustment of what point in the process a temple is announced.

That's also not to say it hasn't slowed down. Maybe it has.

I hope it slows down. I like having temples everywhere but it seems we've caught up to a point where there is a temple within an hour or two of most people. They announced a second temple in Houston two years ago and we don't even yet have a location for it.

Even in Mormonville, Rexburg, I think they are going to struggle to find enough people to work in both temples. Perhaps Pres Nelson was a lets do it and figure it out later and Oaks is more of a lets slow down and get a handle on all this.

I kinda doubt the non-announcement of temples was a change of course from what was planned 2 weeks ago before President Nelson had passed. My guess would be this was something that would have happened irrespective of Nelson's passing.
