"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

I'm really digging Elder Soares' checked suit.

I want a suit like that.

I can always tell it's conference time by the heartfelt texts I receive from listeners who have been inspired to reach out to the one. While sweet, it's become so predictable that it's almost funny. I will never be upset about old friends reaching out but I do think I'm entitled to a bit of cynicism about motivation.

I liked Elder Carlos Godoy's talk far better than Elder Rasband's. Elder Rasband's feels too much like a Prophet Power Rankings post explanation.

Speaking of checked, I've never attended conference in person, but I've always wondered how much unchecked and unescapable flatulence occurs in such a large congregation, with an equally large age range?

Bummer no new temples announced but it did save us from the one person that needs to yell out during the announcements. At last Oaks can keep the woos to a minimum.

I’m curious what your cynical thoughts think is their motivation.

I mean, obviously I can't know that. But the fact that it happens regularly tells me that it's perhaps less something they wanted to do because we're friends (my phone works on non conference days) and more something easy they could do to feel like they took some action after an inspiring message. Like I said, it's not something that upsets me and I always respond to them positively. It's just a phenomenon that I find interesting.

[Sets calendar reminder for April 4, 2026 to send SB a real nice PM wishing him well and letting him know I’m praying for him and his family and that I want him to know I love him and value his friendship.]
Prepare to put mustard on those words, for you will soon be consuming them, along with this slice of humble pie that comes direct from the oven of shame set at gas mark “egg on your face”! -- Moss

There's three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who's got the same first name as a city; and never go near a lady's got a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, everything else is cream cheese. --Coach Finstock
