I taught Sunday School and EQ today. In my EQ lesson, which was about the Lord's Health Plan or something like that (Lesson 29 in GP), we got to talking about clothing as a tangent. Someone brought up that the white shirt and tie made them spiritual, and I brought up that it didn't for me.
The issue kept getting pressed, so I pointed to a Jesus at the Tree of Life painting that showed him in flowing robes, and said that we never see Jesus in a shirt and tie. I then offered my opinion that "Jesus in a shirt and tie would look like a tool."

"I like to bike. I could beat Lance Armstrong, only because he couldn't pass me if he was behind me."
Yes indeed. The Lebowski clan was given a personal demonstration. Afterwards he said "Sister Monson hates it when I do that."

"Wuap's "problem" is that he is smart & principled & committed to a moral course of action. His actions are supposed to reflect his ethical code.
The rest of us rarely bother to think about our actions." --Solon

Maybe I regret saying that.
I pulled double duty too. I didn't know I was teaching either until 5 minutes before each.

You must be a solid teacher then. Not everyone can do that on the fly and do it well.

Not to mention doing it while wearing shorts.

No one said anything about him doing it well.

I'm going to wager the kids knew that Jesus taught us to be nice to each other and to help the poor, which is probably more important than knowing where Jesus delivered the sermon since even Matthew and Luke can't agree on where it happened.
This goes to show how old I am getting and that I can hardly relate to the youth of today.
Back in MY day, we at least knew that one line in the Sermon on the Mount wasn't meant to be taken literally, as it referred to any manufacturer of dairy products. ("Did he say blessed are the cheesemakers?")
He's a smart guy and an English major, of course he does it well.
