I mean, Passover isn't really a Christian tradition, is it? I don't know how many Jewish holidays I'm willing to accommodate.
Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

Part of the problem might be that I never actually know when Easter is. We should make it like Thanksgiving and fix it on the 3rd Sunday of March or something.
I’d pick a Thursday so we can eventually basically get a week off of work

Immigrate to Mexico (or give Texas back to it). Apparently, the entire country gets Holy week off of work - or at least all of the contractors located in Mexico, a significant part of my team. Then move a major application software release to coincide with Holy Week because another group located in the eastern part of the US didn't want the software release during their Spring break.

Spring break has become a de facto week off in Texas. Most people take that week off so there aren’t enough people around to justify any meetings so people just “work from home” if they aren’t already on vacation. Same with the week between Xmas and New Years. There’s no reason to schedule vacation since you’ll practically get it off either way.

The odd thing is that the choir sang two Easter songs, but they seemed out of place due to the topic.

Our bishopric over the last five years has struggled to find its footing but I’ve given them tons of grace because they are trying and Covid made it difficult, not to mention the elimination of YM presidencies. It probably doesn’t help that the bishop has 11 kids and they span ages from 20 years old down to 2 years old. We also had a bishopric counselor whose wife went inactive while he was serving (they have a gay son and I think certain things just broke for her).
I take it the bishop does not have cable.

            • Don't know where to put this, but this seems to work.

I found this website Mormonr (https://mormonr.org/) the other day. Very interesting and has great references for everything it discusses.

Tackles the tough issues and some not so tough like the BYU Beard Ban.

                  • My oldest daughter attends a YSA ward in Sugarhouse. It's primarily made up of young professionals - most who have finished their undergrad and some who are working towards advanced degrees at the U (law school or medical school, primarily). It definitely has a different make up than your traditional student ward - which is why she decided to move into the area where she could attend this verses other YSA wards.

For Father's Day, they had the missionaries speak. Seems like a great way to avoid any controversy that might come from dealing with something like Father's Day in a YSA ward, right?

One of the elders who spoke is 2 months from ending his mission. He talked about how trunky he is, ready to go home, and about goals he has set for himself for the rest of his life.

He spent a few minutes talking about one goal in particular - his plan to get married within 1 year of returning home.

I'm not sure if he thought he was helping this particular audience out by encouraging them to set a goal to get married, or if he is somewhat self-absorbed and was totally oblivious to the audience and their relationship to this particular message - but apparently it went over about as well as you might think it would.

I would encourage any sisters in the audience who find me attractive to send me facebook messages in 2 months.

Nothing new for falafel there. Though, in fairness, he may have just been voicing what the Elder was attempting to communicate in his talk to the Singles Ward.
