  • Give a long and earnest talk about the chocolate-covered seer stone and the wonders of the gift of translation. Go the entire talk referencing the seer stone as chocolate-covered and then see how long it takes for someone to correct you during sunday school or EQ.

Keep hazards in the periphery but focus on where you want to go (or, stop focusing on all the Don'ts in the church and focus on the Do's). I have many more, including the value of caffeinated energy drinks and gels.
What about urinating from the rear of the pack, not the front?

If I stay with a sports theme I may go with this, that golf is only work if you're grinding for a score so I don't keep score when I play on Sundays so I really am resting from my labours.

I would have to listen to one of them first and I'm not sure they have the printed versions out that fast.

The whole drafting thing, going back for the slow and unattached, like you said looking out for hazards and warning others of what is up ahead and I like the idea of working getting a caffeinated boost in there. I think I can do for the fifteen minutes.

I've thought of opening it up for a question and answer session much like a Saturday night stake conference meeting and having someone open up with a question about the stone.

That's a pretty good analogy, I need to figure out how to work that in there.

That would require him to attend more than the first hour of church.
"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

You could also add some wisdom from Greg Lemond that if you keep the furnace hot enough, you can burn anything, including a few suds at the end of the ride.
"Guitar groups are on their way out, Mr Epstein."

Upon rejecting the Beatles, Dick Rowe told Brian Epstein of the January 1, 1962 audition for Decca, which signed Brian Poole and the Tremeloes instead.

              • I suppose this would also fit well in the Tent City thread, but today I learned that all of our current apostles have seen the end of times and they know what is going to happen. So we would be quite foolish not to heed every word they say, as they are giving us the information we'll need to prepare ourselves for that day.

Straight from the mouth of the SP.
Prepare to put mustard on those words, for you will soon be consuming them, along with this slice of humble pie that comes direct from the oven of shame set at gas mark “egg on your face”! -- Moss

There's three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who's got the same first name as a city; and never go near a lady's got a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, everything else is cream cheese. --Coach Finstock

This was last Sunday since this Sunday consisted mostly of sweating my ass off in record temps standing in line for Mickey's f'ing Fun Wheel.

By some lapse in judgement, I sat through Gospel Doctrine. The lesson covered the Acts portion of the stoning of Stephen. The point was made that with the ministry of Christ, the leadership within the Scribes and Pharisees were so in trenched in their traditions and history that they couldn't accept a new version of the gospel. They were so afraid of this movement that they aggressively sought out the disciples of Christ, like Stephen, and killed them. This is exactly why it is SO important to listen to and follow the prophet.

Exactly my thoughts while sitting through the same lesson. I'm not saying we need to view every Julie Rowe as a prophet, but maybe hardline sticking to the traditions of the past merely because they are traditions isn't the greatest way to run things.
