Not anyone I know. Or maybe they just don't want to admit to it.

It won an Oscar, so if you don't know anybody that saw a movie that won an Oscar 7 months ago, then I agree with your self-assessment that perhaps your circle of friends needs to be expanded.

You should give some of the aforementioned movies a try. I think you might like them. His neurosis can be a great sense of hilarity but some people just don't get it, I suppose. I honestly don't understand how people can watch Annie Hall and not laugh throughout. Yet, many people have seen it and hate it or find it boring.

      • I am under 40 and have not seen Midnight In Paris, as that movie was given a R rating by the MPAA.

You may be right in that Woody Allen movies might be worthwile. There are lots of Oscar winning films that don't get wide viewership though.

I am 34 and have never seen a Woody Allen movie. I also lived in NYC, so that's an aggravating factor in my apparent crime against culture.
Awesomeness now has a name. Let me introduce myself.

I hate woody allen movies. Classic case of everyone pretending to like something so that they can appear sophisticated.
It's the only Woody Allen movie I've seen.

              • I like a lot (and dislike intensely a few) of Woody's movies, but then I am old. In addition to the list DDD provided, I've liked Bananas, Sleeper, Love and Death, Crimes and Misdemeanors, Hannah and Her Sistersand The Purple Rose of Cairo, among others. And Midnight in Paris was really good.

                  Nope. PG-13.

ER was trying to put the moves on you and you didn't even know it.

It's not a chick flick or a love story. I guess it could use more explosions and fight/chase scenes.

I enjoy his films but I am over forty, just barely.

I wonder if I would enjoy Sleeper as much as I did when I first saw it. The scene where he wakes up and society discovers that junk food is actually good for you was worth the laugh. And the orgasmatron was hilarious to me when the film was released. Perhaps I wouldn't find it quite so hilarious but his neurosis is the source of hilarity for me.

Upon rejecting the Beatles, Dick Rowe told Brian Epstein of the January 1, 1962 audition for Decca, which signed Brian Poole and the Tremeloes instead.

I've seen several Woody Allen movies and enjoyed most of them. Midnight in Paris is probably my favorite. You should see it.

He simply is not compelling to my generation, aside from marrying his daughter.
This is absolutely true. My generation, from my personal experience, just doesn't get his popularity. He is, to us, the same as The Fonz from Happy Days, Chevy v. Ford debates, and Notre Dame. Things that older generations adore for some strange reason. Oh, I should've put Chuck-A-Rama on that list as well.
