I have seen the training from the First Presidency. There is some partial truth in items 3&7. The rest were made up by your bishop. And they are still funny.

The way you worded your post implied that the list came from the FP. Hence the skepticism.
Yeah - I've seen the training too.

Some of the new procedures being implemented are all VERY funny.

Wait... so women actually get a say about sacrament meetings now?

Women are sitting in the stands with the men leadership and saying prayers at general conference and they officially have their own session. Now they are helping to plan sacrament meeting. I wonder if OW and Kate Kelly had anything to do with these recent changes. I guess not. The Lord works in mysterious ways.

I'm not thanking Kate Kelly until women take over the Bishopric and men don't have to do that. My son will thank her when the YW start helping to collect fast offerings.

        • Okay, so I learned this on Reddit, but I think this is the first time I've seen someone refer to a Mormon Bible and use the term accurately.

          • The pure and holy recommendations for improving Sabbath Day observance. Study it so that when you hear SPs and bishops adding their own twists, you're prepared to call them out on it.

              • I dinkt think that talk on sabbath was any different than what we were told for generations except for encouraging Sacrament Meetiing 1st. So was into that and had all wards start Sm 1st thugh handbook says otherwise. Multi buildings some need to do other block 1st.

Previous Elders Quorum Presidency one on mission learned from Baptist preacher Elders how do you spell sin. Self. Need to hear inspiring doctrine from Protestant Minister. Didn,t you get called to teach and not get taught.

Eqp in same presidency has no people skills still a bit annoying sometimes, but story he told comes from neighboring town and was friends with family of I think 11 kids, coke commercial on tv with shirts off, Dad walks in turns tv off does not want tv on with guys without shirts on. All sons served missions and everyone married in Temple because he would not allow that on tv.

So it seems that in some missions the missionaries are being required to now buy these iPads with the awful maps app out of their own finances...

We also talked about the new iPad rules. As of March 3rd everyone is required to buy a new iPad from their own finances....except for those going home within the next six months or so! Yah! I don't have to pay! Haha.

And these iPads are not to help hasten the work... they are to teach missionaries how to use technology righteously:

But we will all be turning our iPads in for updated ones and won't be on face book for a few months. Pres. McCune went to a meeting with a bunch of other mission presidents and Elder Bednar and Elder Nelson all about technology and he said it was a new age for missionary work and super important. He asked us why we think we had iPads as missionaries. We all answered "to hasten the work?" And he said "no. To teach you all how to use technology righteously for the rest of your life. This generation is going to see huge changes in technology for the rest of your lives and you need to be prepared." He told us that elder Bednar told all the mission presidents that "this is the most important season in the history of the church in this dispensation." The whole zone conference was silent after that statement and everyone had chills. It was epic!
I am not playing Angry Birds on my phone at church. I'm am learning how to use technology righteously!

I've come to learn that most times that a church meeting is silent after a comment it's because people are confused by an outlandishly irrational comment/explanation.
"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

                        • I learned that when the bishop and first counselor are out of town, I'm expected to sit with the second counselor on the stand. Which means no perusing CS under the guise of reading the lesson. Crap. And it's F&T, too.

                          • I learned that if you read the PR statement about gay marriage to the ward after sacrament meeting, then ask if there are any questions, you will get crickets.

In our ward they had a combined 3rd-hour meeting with all adults and youth over 12 years old. The bishop read the letter and then opened the floor for comments and questions. The first two people to grab the mic were a couple of old dudes (~80) who basically said that there is no need to have a discussion and anyone who says anything contrary to the prophet is out of order. One guy said that he helped build the church and by golly, if anyone says anything supporting gay marriage they would have to answer to him personally (aka, the Mark Atuaia strategy). But after that, 90% of the comments were people expressing a wish for kindness, love, and understanding for our gay and lesbian members. The bishop handled all of the questions superbly and did a great job guiding the discussion. I was expecting a disaster, but it went well. Proud of my ward.

I just have a hard time understanding the concept that you can love and have empathy for homosexual individuals while at the same time firmly believing they are damned if they enter into a committed, legal relationship with someone they are sexually attracted to.
