I was handed two church surveys when I walked in the chapel doors this morning. Looks like SLC is trying to gather some information on members and callings and especially those in leadership callings.
I had to return the surveys before leaving so I couldn't give any questions."Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

We are the family that shows up at the end of Sacrament. I don't feel like spending an hour roaming the halls with our two youngest.Originally posted by YOhio View PostI feel your pain. It would be so nice to once again be bored during sacrament meeting.I'm your huckleberry.

As the father of 5, and a longtime attendee of Sacrament meeting, I've no problem with kids learning at their own pace about how to worship at Sacrament Meeting. The key is repetitive attendance and a gradual awakening to the soul over many years. Old people love helping kids to learn worship behaviour, and kids need the context of watching others in an example of years of dedicated church attendance. It's a win win. And besides, I've never met a person who was mad that someones kids were too fussy during church.
Have more... I love watching kids grow up a week at a time.

We are that noisy family as well. What's sad is that there are a couple families with crazier kids than ours, but those kids are a lot better behaved than my kids in Sacrament meeting. Even sadder is that my older kids, who should know better, are just as bad as my toddlers. Ugh.Originally posted by Surfah View PostWe're that noisy family in sacrament meeting.I'm like LeBron James.

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

I learned that, contrary to what my wife told me, my niece's baby blessing is next week, not this week."I think it was King Benjamin who said 'you sorry ass shitbags who have no skills that the market values also have an obligation to have the attitude that if one day you do in fact win the PowerBall Lottery that you will then impart of your substance to those without.'"

Our SS lesson today was anything but boring. Topic was the United Order/Law of Consecration and we had a roomful of well-known Utah conservative political leaders. It is fascinating to see how people dance around and wrestle with the topic of divine socialism. I thought the discussion was reasonable tame overall but there were a few political comments. Finally, a sister in the back raised her hand and chewed everyone out for being so negative about the topic and not being Christlike. It was an incredible self-righteous rebuke. By this time the poor teacher was frazzled and ended the class early even though there were lots of hands being raised."There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? Those folks are just intolerable."
