Might as well open up the wikipedia rabbit hole. I haven't read these, but I figure they'd be a decent starting place.Originally posted by Maximus View PostHow does dna evidence prove (or is evidence for) the BofM is false? Plagiarism? You mean of the bible? Doesnt the BofM claim that they had parts of the Bible with them? WHat geography evidences do you speak of? Care to explain 1-3?

It has already happened. All we lack is a formal revelation.Originally posted by Indy Coug View PostFess up. You don't really believe that.
The Book of Mormon qua historical document has been thoroughly discredited, in every conceivable way, and, qua historical document, is a dead letter to any objecive person Mormon or non-Mormon alike. Rational people don't even cosider this a subject worthy of discussion. You might as well be making a case for historicity of the Hobbit. When a true genius appears, you can know him by this sign: that all the dunces are in a confederacy against him.

The more difficult of the Bible plagiarism issues are the borrowing from New Testament, mostly Paul, before they had access to Paul.Originally posted by Maximus View PostHow does dna evidence prove (or is evidence for) the BofM is false? The plagiarism that I'm thinking about is from the New Testament, but even Isaiah is now believed by some to be written after Lehi left for the Promised Land.
DNA shows that Natives aren't from Israel.
There isn't any geography that fits what is in the BoM, and even the areas that are believed to be where it took place don't match up.Last edited by LogMafia; 07-12-2010, 11:44 AM.

The BofM only claims to give an account of a select group of people. It does not claim to give an ancestral link of even a majority of natives.Originally posted by LogMafia View PostThe plagiarism that I'm thinking about is from the New Testament, but even Isaiah is now believed by some to be written after Lehi left for the Promised Land.
