I thought of Woot when I made this thread. He has been MIA."The first thing I learned upon becoming a head coach after fifteen years as an assistant was the enormous difference between making a suggestion and making a decision."
"They talk about the economy this year. Hey, my hairline is in recession, my waistline is in inflation. Altogether, I'm in a depression."

Just trying to pin you down a little more specifically. Way to parry the question counsellorOriginally posted by LA Ute View PostI am in the "I don't know and I'm OK with not knowing" camp. Make sense?

An admittedly poor choice of words on my part (an admission previously made, I might add; and yet you continue to punish me).
To me the answer to Jarid's question is not very important, although I am skeptical (to say the least) about the "younger earth" claims. I believe in all kinds of miracles. I don't know how Jesus was resurrected or how Moroni traveled to Joseph Smith from whatever his place of origin was. So not knowing how God caused the earth's creation doesn't trouble me much.“There is a great deal of difference in believing something still, and believing it again.”

Well, "not important to me" is very different from "trivial." And thank you for your affection. It is not unreciprocated.Originally posted by UtahDan View PostJust own it LA. Within the creation/evolution issue, I'm most interested in how it relates in the area of human evolution and early anthropology. I think most LDS are OK with evolution in the context of intelligent design. I'm more interested in explaining how the Bible and BOM fits in with the concept of man being 50,000+ years old and evolving out of Africa and being numbered throughout Europe, Asia, and Africa before civilizations started to form.

I think LA Ute's explanation was what I was thinking about. I don't know how God did it, but he did. I don't know if it was evolution or some other mechanism, but if I got to the next life and found out that evolution was how he did it, I don't think I'd care much. So put me down for some form of intelligent design.Originally posted by Jarid in Cedar View PostMeh. A theory will continue to evolve as new/more compelling evidence presents itself. Scientific thought that doesn't change isn't really science. Not that, sickos.
