I definitely wander between a Evolutionary Creationism and Theistic Evolutionism.

In this debate, I live by the saying that: "Science explains how and Religion explains why."

      I'm in the same boat.

That's what I think too. I picked Theistic Evolutionism but your pithy saying describes my feelings much more accurately.

Someone with some credibility on CB needs to post this poll over there.

I could do it, the qualifications above notwithstanding. I'm interested to see the response.

my guess is that it will be closer to the results of the poll over here than many of you might think

I'm guessing there are a few more conservative outliers.

You're also more likely to get dishonest responses on CB than on CUF.

Very good point - like the geocentrism answer. Seriously?

I am probably a Evolutionary Creationism guy but I might be a bit more conservative than that although I don't quite fit in the Intelligent Design.

Ultimately I'm just not informed enough about evolution to really know where I stand. I do believe that we are created by God but whether it was through evolution or him playing with playdoh I don't really know or really care. As of right now I'll stay in the Evolutionary Creationism camp until I learn a thing or two about evolution.
"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

Some of the descriptions this site uses put me off.

"God set the wheels of cosmic and biological creation rolling at the dawn of creation and then stepped back, letting things unfold as they may"

"God started the universe off (with a Big Bang, if you will), and let it run on its own without further interference"

Why would God step back or interfere? Am I the only person here that doesn't think that God waves a magic wand?

As for my opinion. I don't see any serious conflict between Genesis and evolution. If you had to describe the creation to people back in the time genesis was written, how would you go about describing it in such a condensed manner?

Perhaps you should review Genesis chapters 1 and 2 and then review the theory of evolution. I can't see any similarities between Genesis and evolution. I can think of a few contradictions off the top of my head, assuming evolutionary theory has it partly correct:

                            1. Adam was not the first man, created from dust, man evolved from primitive species.
                            2. The firmament does not separate 2 bodies of water.
                            3. The earth was not formed and its species did not appear in 6 days.

Maybe saying "Genesis" wasn't accurate. I guess I mean the creation as represented in the scriptures and I never said I accept Genesis literally. I obviously don't think the earth and man was created in 6 days.

Before learning about evolution "created from the dust" never made sense to me. After understanding evolution this makes perfect sense.

One that still doesn't make sense is taking a rib from Adam and creating Eve.
