Do fathers need anything?

We always give stuff (flowers and candy) to the women on mothers day, but is it necessary for the men on fathers day? I don't care if I get anything but is that how otheren feel.

I've gotten various things over the years from the ward, most of what I didn't care about. The only one I liked was what we did in my current ward until a few years ago. The primary kids would all bring in cookies, and 30 minutes before the end of church all the men would meet with their primary kids in the gym and eat cookies. I really liked that. Since I was asked to teach Priesthood yesterday, I may unilaterally reinstate it.

I posted around mothers day the luncheon my ward does for them. The newly reorganized relief society has decided to do something for the men tomorrow. Should be interesting as there are only two women not related to me I trust to eat anything that they have prepared and one of them is in Germany.

I'd rather get a sleeve of balls, bag of tees or even a new golf glove than some baked good.

The day off A member of the bishopric just left me a message that they want to meet with me for a few minutes before church tomorrow. I'm trying to decide on making up an excuse, or just telling him the truth in that I get to sleep in tomorrow for Fathers Day.

I wish I had a niku-style day off today too. I have to teach primary so I am sitting in sacrament meeting now. The only good part is the kids singing. I have never heard a talk on father's day that has doe anything more than make me feel inadequate. This year is no exception. If you are not going to cancel church for us, the least you can do is uplift us and not make us feel guilty that we don't measure up to the whitewashed vision that you have of your dad, at least when he wasn't beating you.
