Another example, "I'm coming back soon," or, that my father would be "completely healed" and go back to his caliing.
Wuap, I'm sorry. That sucks really, really bad.

Even worse because I thought this thread was going to be a funny reference to Facsimile #2, where we learn from Fig. 1 that "One day in Kolob is equal to a thousand years according to the measurement of this earth, which is called by the Egyptians Jah-oh-eh."

"More crazy people to Provo go than to any other town in the state."

I mentioned a long time ago that I was skeptical that a chole would solve your problem, but you were so excited at the prospect of feeling better that I didn't want to dampen anything in this last round. Chronic abdominal pain is such a frustrating and difficult diagnosis that too many surgeons just throw their hands up in the air and take out the gallbladder, only to leave a patient with their pain unchanged (or worse) and chronic diarrhea. Sometimes, doing nothing really is better than doing something. Unfortunately, that doesn't help you now, but maybe should act as a warning to others?

Anyway, about your question, which is the real reason I'm replying to this...This is a question I find really interesting and often troubling. I don't know how 2000 years fits any even stretched definition of "soon". I know, I know, "God's time" and all, but Jesus or Paul or whoever wasn't talking to God. If you're intending to communicate a point, don't you have to consider how that point's going to be received and understood, i.e. the language of the listener?

Perhaps the 2nd coming he's talking about is the one that comes at the end of our lives?
Believe me, I'm not mad at the doctors. I realized full well that I might have a negative gallbladder upon removal (pathology is still pending). But, the pain was the worth the risk to me, on the probability that it was acalculous cholecystectomy. My pain is now worse. While this might be the last gasps of the nerves, or pain from the fossa, I'm more worried that it's a worsening pathology of what was causing the pain to increase in severity, weekly, before.

I'm supposed to go back to the specialist in two weeks. I'm wondering if there isn't an issue in my ascending colon that's causing the pain. Maybe it's time for a colonoscopy.

Hang tough wuap. The doctors will just keep removing bits that might be the source of the pain until eventually you are just a talking head.

              *Bada BING!*

But seriously, it has got to be frustrating, and I hope things start to get better soon. (more good vibes being sent from the general region of SoCal).

I tried that. The bastards sent me home without even an aspirin. I'm fairly certain they thought I was a junkie faking it.

I regretted posting immediately after I posted that, thinking that was probably not what you wanted to hear. And I definitely could be wrong--this may be routine postsurgical pain that will subside in a few weeks. It's just that "acalculous cholecystitis" is used far too often as an excuse to take out a gallbladder either because the doctor has used up every other option or because he/she's simply too lazy to think any more deeply (and let's face it, stands to make a little extra on the surgery). Acalculous cholecystitis should 95% of the time be an ICU diagnosis. Think about it--an internal organ is necrosing away without any physical reason. That should really only happen to very frail/ill people, and when it does, it's not the kind of thing that just simmers along for months--people get really sick really fast and die.

Way higher on my list for you would be gastritis or ulcer disease. Have you had an EGD done?

EDIT: Take this for what it's worth--I've never seen you and don't want to undermine anything that your physician is saying. Hopefully, he's right, I'm wrong, and this is temporary.

EGD was clear save for a slight thinning of the mucosa at some point near the duodenum. The surgeon (not the one who did my surgery) told me "basically, everything was pink and healthy."

The only thing any CT has shown are some "fatty intrusions" into the pancreas, but the radiologist noted that they were minuscule and not likely to cause the complaints I mentioned.

Basically, since I started allopurinol therapy, my health has gone to shit.

Also, cholecystitis doesn't have to be necrotizing, does it? I mean, the inflammation can exist in the absence of rotting, no?

No, it doesn't have to be necrotizing. I'm just painting a picture to point out that it's really unusual (the 5% that aren't in the ICU) for a gallbladder to simply be inflamed without some serious (i.e. life-threatening) underlying problem. Maybe you're in that 5%.

I really should step out of this again. I'm not helping and it sounds like you had a pretty thorough workup (abnormal HIDA, right?)--it would bug me if some other doctor were secondguessing my work over the web, too.

I hope you get better soon.

Why are you on allopurinol? Do you have gout? Is it causing problems?

I was having acute gout flareups every 10-14 days before starting allopurinol. Colchecine stopped giving me any relief, so I bit the bullet and started allopurinol. The first 12 weeks, I felt like I had sand in my hip joints, I ran a low-grade fever for weeks, and it was hell. Once that passed, no more gout. However, since then I developed the Pain and an excruciating heel spur.

<redacted> eh! Secondguess all you want. No one has any answers.

Hang in there waup. I hope the pain goes away and you are feeling better shortly. While reading this I think back to the days when I was a kid and some old person would tell me that all they wanted was good health. I never thought much about it then but as I get older I can see where they were coming from. All it takes is some health problems of your own or to read about the struggles you are going through to realize how true that was.
