Mormon testifies against prop 8, refuses to stop, mic is cut.
There are many venues and places where as American citizens we are given the right and platform to protest and speak out against policy we find disagreeable. INSIDE a place of worship is not one of these places.
If he had posted his complaints on the Church doors for all to see, would that have been acceptable?

There are a lot of forums for an individual such as him or yourself to express opinions.
Some of them are appropriate...some of them are not. Churchs have their own policies, rules and doctrines that are SEPARATE from State. In some countries had he done this he would've literally been shouted down. Cutting off his microphone was the appropriate response to expressing what he was in an in-appropriate venue.
My biggest point is it's inappropriate to do what he did in a PLACE OF WORSHIP. This is not a difficult concept to grasp.

He got his way. He got the attention he wants.
You didn't answer my question. If he had posted his complaints on the Church doors for everyone to read, would that have been acceptable?

I don't understand what this has to do with anything.
While SU is the master of trolling on here...Sooner is the master of combining a quasi-serious question/troll into one question or comment. I give him a lot of credit for that.
I thought the answer was implied by my last response, but to make it more clear: Of course not.
So you think Martin Luther acted inappropriately, despite the fact that he is routinely celebrated by LDS Church leaders as an inspired predecessor to Joseph Smith.
I think the question of how, when, and where to effect change is a very important question. I would contend that at some point, the complaints must be public and come from within the institution itself. My immediate response to this fellow is that his choice of venue was tasteless. And while this guy is no Martin Luther, I'm sure that in his day many people thought Luther's public defiance of the Church was also inappropriate.

Regardless of your contentions....it's still inappropriate and while your'e right that he is no Martin Luther, your comparing this bozo with pre-determined and planned attention grabbing techniques means this thread has now officially jumped the shark with that kind of extremism.
Why? Because it's controversial whether Luther really posted the complaints on the door?
I've read that this type of behavior really occurred in Luther's day, so I think my point is still valid.
No. Because it seemed that no one was catching your Martin Luther reference.

But this WAS his testimony. He felt spiritually prompted to say what he did. He claims that he has never felt such a strong spiritual prompting. He felt compelled by the Holy Ghost to share his testimony.
This is what I don't understand about your position, Jeff. Are you saying that some testimonies don't belong in testimony meeting? Are you saying that you don't believe him when he says that he felt prompted by the spirit to share what he shared?
Like I said, if I were bishop, I would have been very tempted to pull the plug, but only because I wouldn't have wanted to deal with the backlash from the congregation. I'm impressed this bishop lasted as long as he did.
