I'm sure you do think he's being respectful. You have plenty of your own disrespectful posts and trolls, and you two are kindred spirits in many ways so it's OBVIOUSLY no surprise you feel the way you do.Originally posted by SoonerCoug View PostDisagreeing with beliefs or having a unique opinion is not the same as being disrespectful.
Hyrum was disrespectful. SU simply disagrees with Mormon claims. I think SU expresses his thoughts very maturely.
I don't agree that he's been respectful. Name-calling is being respectful. Taking a shit on personal testimony and belief is not respectful. It NEVER has been. And yes he has done this and done it too many times to count really. There's simply too many years of evidence that makes me right.Last edited by RockyBalboa; 10-06-2009, 09:43 PM.

If SU were expressing these same opinions from a Mormon pulpit during testimony meeting, then that would be disrespectful. But this isn't testimony meeting. This is CUF, the only place on the internet where Mormons, half-Mormons, and ex-Mormons can have a good dialogue.Originally posted by RockyBalboa View PostI'm sure you do think he's being respectful.

Just because this isn't a church and isn't testimony meeting doesn't mean he's not being trolling and disrespectful.
I don't agree that being disrespectful, attacking, name calling and seeking to injure and enflame is good dialogue.
It's destructive, mean spirited, bitter and with ill intention. There's plenty of non-believers here who're able to be respectful and actually do so. He is not among them.

I agree with you and have stated as much many times. I am just not sure insults are part of a good dialogue.Originally posted by SoonerCoug View PostIf SU were expressing these same opinions from a Mormon pulpit during testimony meeting, then that would be disrespectful. SU should be allowed to do whatever he wants. This forum would dwindle in belief without him. That which may be asserted without evidence may be dismissed without evidence. -C. Hitchens

SU pisses me off sometimes. His constant badgering and incessant nitpicking about the Church can get old. But, other than getting snippy with him on rare occasions, most people he annoys just ignore him. It's not like this thread was started in an effort to have people come share their testimonies about what Elder Holland said. It's a dialogue. People can add whatever they want to the many voices here. Some people will enjoy what SU says, some will ignore it, some will bristle at it. You fall into the latter camp, and you're free to badger back at him all you want. But. I think that you're headed for a fall; you can respond with sophomoric ripostes to that assertion, but time alone, whoa, time will tell...you think you're in heaven, but you're living in hell.Originally posted by RockyBalboa View PostNow your changing it up to fit your opinion.

I will not stop and will be here from now on to oppose his attacks. If he shows he's able to engage in respectful discussion without attacking and being dis-respectful then I won't say anything to call him on it.Originally posted by wuapinmon View PostSU pisses me off sometimes. Pretty simple really.

The problem is that SU plays in the NBA, and you're still playing Junior Jazz. SU's posts are full of reason and substance, and your posts are nothing more than childish emotion.Originally posted by RockyBalboa View PostThe ball is in his court. That which may be asserted without evidence may be dismissed without evidence. -C. Rock of Love, I hear what you have been saying these past couple of days. I know that this is an issue for which you feel some strong passion because you have run with this banner before. In fact, one could argue that you have been one of the vocal few willing to take up this cross and bear it publicly (the desire for a respectful religious forum for positive uplifting stories...as opposed to a forum for debate and "dialogue"). If I am not mistaken, FM may have also mentioned such in the past, too. You are not alone in the fight.Originally posted by RockyBalboa View PostI'm sure you do think he's being respectful. In the spirit of reconciliation, have you considered putting SeattleUte on ignore? I know we all pride ourselves on this "I don't put anybody on ignore" mantra, but sometimes it is best to do such. For reasons that you have made clear (and I am not saying you are wrong, btw), SeattleUte stirs a passion in you (me, too...rowrrr!). My concern is that this passion may wind up getting the better of you and lead you down irretrievable paths. By that, I mean simply that you may wind up saying or posting something that you wish you could take back later. With the exception of me, I think everyone on CUF has probably posted something that we then wished we had not (the "me" part was a joke, btw...in fact, I wish I had not posted it). Doing so casts us in a false light or makes us seem that we are something that, in reality, we are not.
You are a cool cat and a Lone Star Taqueria fanatico extraordinaire with a crazysexycool obsession for BYU football and stalker-quality connections to the program. The board is obviously stronger when you are using your Karnak-like abilities to enlighten us with gridiron acumen. You have posted some personal and soul-bearing stuff in the past which proves beyond question that you are also a sensitive guy (I mean this in a good way...not in a creepy, Cialis sort of way). I may be going out on a limb, but it seems that it is your sensitivity that is driving you to protect the spiritual experiences of others here on this site.
I guess all I am saying is that however you choose to resolve this conflict with SeattleUte, don't sacrifice your goodwill and brand equity over this one particular issue. You can do a lot more good by effecting change from within. If you can't have your own forum, start your own thread. Set up parameters in the thread. Those that wish to participate can do so. Politely remind people when things get out of hand. If, after a bit, the idea is not successful, then the marketplace of ideas has spoken, but at least you tried. But, if the idea proves to be a success......then Rocky.....Rocky.....YOU will have saved the lives of millions of registered voters..........
Good luck either way. And when are we grabbing some tacos? I should have texted you when I was in town last week because I was actually in that area running errands. My loss.
Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

I agree he's very intelligent and well-spoken.Originally posted by SoonerCoug View PostThe problem is that SU plays in the NBA, and you're still playing Junior Jazz. SU's posts are full of reason and substance, and your posts are nothing more than childish emotion.
All the more reason why his constant attacks are unbecoming one like him.

Sorry, I'm made my position very clear on what I'm going to do if he persists in his arrogant attacks.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostRock of Love, I hear what you have been saying these past couple of days. This will not change until or unless he does and I don't regret standing up for what's right.
I'm all for open discussion. I'm not for the constant diarrhea of attacks, name calling and blatant dis-respect toward the church and others who believe and why they believe.
It won't be tolerated by me any longer. If you guys want to effect change then he's the one you need to approach.
Also I'm game for Tacos anytime.Last edited by RockyBalboa; 10-06-2009, 10:09 PM.
