    Here you go:

    TOMATO AND BASIL SOUP
    1 medium onion
    1 tablespoon olive oil
2 large cans whole tomatoes or a dozen or so fresh roma and hothouse
    4 cups chicken broth
6 sprigs basil tied with string
    1 teaspoon minced shallot
    2 teaspoons balsamic vinegar
    1 cup heavy cream
salt and freshly ground black pepper
basil leaves sliced in thin strips

Saute sliced onion in olive oil in a heavy bottomed pan and cook over medium heat until soft, about 7 minutes.Tie basil together with twine (or just slice into strips).
Add tomatoes chopped in large pieces, basil, chicken broth, salt and pepper. Bring to a boil, lower heat and reduce soup by 1/4.
Remove basil bunch (if used) and puree soup mixture.
Heat soup, add balsamic vinegar and stir in heavy cream.

We doubled it and used half and half instead of heavy cream.

I haven't ever watched Scrubs. I have been told by many that I need to. My BIL who is a doc and I believe you may know tells me every time I see him that I need to start watching it.

No you don't. You can trust me on that.

Maybe when I run into you I will give you the first 4 seasons to watch. Scrubs is the only show on TV that I will take the time to watch.

                • Grilled turkey burgers (some magnificent conconction my wife created - garlic salt, worcestershire sauce, light onions, etc.)
                • Twice baked butternut squash with a little bit of cinnamon
                • Boiled Yukon gold potatoes
                • Baked zuchini sprinkled with herbs and light cheese

It was one of the better meals I've had in awhile -- especially the twice baked butternut squash. Tasty.

Not sure what I'll do for dinner tonight, but today for lunch I had spaghetti with sea urchin, squid, tarako, and a butter sauce. It was exquisite!

I have a couple flank steaks that I need to use tonight. I'm thinking of grilling for fajitas. Any other ideas?

DT had a really nice looking chimichuri (sp?) recipe here somewhere that he uses with flank steaks.

I love this Guy Fieri recipe for skirt steak and chimichurri. You could do the same with a flank steak.

YO does not have time to grow the goatee and bleach his hair. The steaks need to be used tonight!

Now that we are off the 1:00 schedule and back to 9:00, I am back to cooking Sunday dinner instead of breakfast. I've been thinking of what to start the new year with, and earlier today I went over to one of my favorite places, the Grand Asia Market, to get some ideas, and I think I have it.

For those of you not familiar with either the Old English or Rap languages, "Pizzle", of course means "Penis" (glad this isn't CB). The only question now is how to prepare it. Cut it into 6 inch segments and serve on a hot dog bun? Serve with Rocky Mountain Oysters as a complete package? Slice finely, pound wafer thin, drizzle with olive oil and capers and have a Pizzle Carpaccio?

How do all of you usually serve pizzle? I am open to suggestions.
