They're both fine/average but Californians was poetic about In-N-Out and people from the midwest/south wax poetic about Canes. Just like people from the east wax poetic about Shake Shack and Utahns wax poetic about Training Table (RIP ) or JCWs or Swig or Cafe Rio, etc.

But none of those places are worth waiting in long lines for.

    • Here is the thing about Canes. Just buy a bag of Just Bare chicken breasts from Costco and grab a bottle of CFA sauce from a supermarket, pop the chicken in your air fryer, and you have chicken as good or better than the stuff they are slinging.

          • In-n-out always has a line in Redding no matter what time you go or which location you go to. They added a second location directly off I-5 a few years back and we all thought the less directly accessible one would become the one for locals. Now we just have two with crazy long lines and they're long until 1 am. Not sure how many restaurants they'd need to open to have like a regular, Mc Donald's type of line, but it's more than 2.

I don't think I have ever been to the INO in Orem when it wasn't completely packed.

Agreed. And not to hate on INO, I just don't get the cult like following. I like their burgers, but I would prefer McD's fries. That said, the missus and I waited in line last week because I was jonesing for a burger.

That is dumb. I don't get it.

The quality can be hit or miss but they are tacos so the gap between hit or miss isn't very wide. On average, the tacos are above average but the queso is the real reason we continue to go there. The queso is addicting.

I've recently started to frequent Velvet Taco, which IMO has better tacos and subpar queso.

They opened a location on the NW side of Houston and it had crazy lines for about a week, then it calmed down pretty quickly. It's still busy but you typically will find 1-2 people in line at most. I guess it helps when you live in a city that has a lot more food options

Let me hate on INO for you. I've been twice, and it's shit. The fries are soggy and greasy. The burgers are squished and greasy. I don't get it. Is it popular just because it's cheap?

I see something and I want to eat it. That's how I work. I was watching a TV show and saw a white bag with greasy burgers and thought, "where can I buy that?" INO! Well worth the wait in line.

I don't know that I've ever seen greasy fries at INO. If anything, their fries are too dry. I've complained lots that INO fries lose their value quicker than other fries. You have to eat them immediately. I think that might be because they aren't greasy enough.
