YO or DaB might know of this place - This is from about 15-20 yrs ago, but there was/is a family dairy on Yellow Springs Road outside of Wright-Patterson AFB that makes outstanding ice cream - I don't remember the name of it. I haven't been out to WPAFB in a few years so I don't know if it is still there.

I may be small, but I'm slow.

Also, I know Tillamook cheese. I didn't realize they made ice cream.
What's to explain? It's a bunch of people, most of whom you've never met, who are just as likely to be homicidal maniacs as they are to be normal everyday people, with whom you share the minutiae of your everyday life. It's totally normal, and everyone would understand.

This is far and away my favorite store bought ice cream. And for a huge bonus, I can get here in Manila every once in a while.

I love german chocolate cake. Baskin and Robins used to have a german chocolate cake ice cream. I haven't been in a B&R's in years so I don't know if they still do, but I used to absolutely love that stuff.

I'm with you; that's my favorite at the Creamery.

My current B&J top three are Mint Chocolate Cookie, Milk & Cookies, and Americone Dream.

For me, though, there's nothing quite like homemade ice cream. I like the lack of gums and such, and I think the effort involved makes it more satisfying. In fact, now that it's June, I'll check the CUF archives to see if anybody has posted ice cream recipes.

Homemade ice cream is fantastic, especially if you enjoy trying to eat a solid frozen rock when you take it out of the freezer the next day.

It doesn't have wide distribution like the cheese, but they make a whole range of dairy products and all of them are very good. Tillamook ice cream just barely got distribution into Utah about a year ago.

Don't judge Seal Salt Caramel by that selection. We tried the Hazelnut and it was very meh. We almost didn't go back. This is the only store bought ice cream/gelato/sorbet that I have ever actually dreamed about and I have tried them all trust me. I promise you that you will not be disappointed with the Sea Salt Caramel.

Ice cream is my favorite food.

The best vanilla I have tasted is aggie ice cream.

I like most major brands and agree with those here endorsing tillamook.

I like most of the ice cream outfits (baskin robbins, cold stone, etc.)

Last year I went to this place: http://www.subzeroicecream.com/

It is kind of gimmicky but what i had did taste good. First you choose a base (I don't remember all of the options) rich heavy type cream, yogurt, soy, custard(?), etc. Then you choose a flavor (vanilla, chocolate, etc.) then you mix in the chunkier stuff, and they freeze it with liquid nitrogen on the spot.

The ice cream turns out to be pretty thick and heavy stuff compared to store-bought because it doesn't have all the air whipped into it.

I had a cinnamon flavor (they whipped actual cinnamon into it) and really liked it. I think that I just may go back this week.

We tried the lemon flavor of this brand a year ago or something and it was fine—not bad, but not super remarkable. Mpfunk brought home the sea salt caramel yesterday and I'm a believer. It's phenomenal.

I also must put in a good word for Tillamook ice cream. It's just good.

I lament the disappearance of Snelgrove Ice Cream. The real stuff. Not the rebranded Dreyers.

I hate Dreyers, if for no other reason than destroying Snelgrove.

Alas, since Snelgrove is no longer really Snelgrove (I'm not even sure you can buy anything branded as such anymore), then my choice goes to the little known "Umpqua" brand.

If not that, then Tillamook. I like both Umpqua and Tillamook. Tillamook has a larger distribution and more flavors. I like to say Umpqua is my favorite because not many people are familiar with it.

We made homemade vanilla ice cream for family home evening on Monday. It only took a few minutes to put the ingrediants together and 5 minutes of shaking. It was rather good, considering it was made by a 3 year old.

I know one store that carries their cheese in their deli here. It is otherwise a foreign brand. But growing up in California, Tillamook was my favorite. Next time I go, I'll have to look for their ice cream.

The homemade ice cream at my house doesn't last much past the initial spin in the maker. From what you're saying, that might be a good thing.

                              That's my experience

Also, being limited to what Ice Cream I can eat, Dryer's Sugar Free is not bad - better than nothing anyway.

We've done this before too. Do you do it with a gallon sized Ziploc and a pint size Ziploc?
