  • Best Ice Cream on Earth

    I nominate Dos Pinos "Trits."

It doesn´t look that special, but it invites reverent awe after each bite.

Mmm. FarrahWaters made this once when I was at her house and it was delicious.
What's to explain? It's a bunch of people, most of whom you've never met, who are just as likely to be homicidal maniacs as they are to be normal everyday people, with whom you share the minutiae of your everyday life. It's totally normal, and everyone would understand.

I'm a huge fan of sea salt caramel icecream - we get this Ralphs brand sea salt caramel ice cream, and it's incredibly good.

Sea salt caramel is delicious in all its forms, but Talenti Gelato Sea Salt Caramel is ridiculous. Seriously.

Probably as much nostalgia as anythng else, but I'm putting it right up there.

Fantastic ice cream shop in Granada, Spain.

People line up around the block on hot Andalucian summer nights. It's an event. A destination.

It's a lot like going to the Nielsen's in Bountiful on a Monday night during the summer. Only better.

Let´s go ahead and say that this isn´t a pissing contest, since none of us have tasted all of these, rather this is an informative thread about what we think is the best one, so that when we´re in Rome, or New Zealand apparently, we can partake of the finer things.

Trits are available in most of Central America.

It's all your fault, wuap, what with the thread title and all.

I think CUF´s headed for a major blow up in the next 72 hours if we can´t even talk about good ice cream without making it partisan. ¡Alístense!

When we lived in Columbus (Ohio) from '95 to '99, we frequented Graeter's Ice Cream regularly. Best ice cream I've ever eaten. It's a regional chain in parts of Ohio.

Last summer, we went on a road trip from Minnesota to Boston, then back through Palmyra, Niagara Falls, and Kirtland. We hoped to be able to find a Graeter's somewhere in northern Ohio to give our kids a chance to experience it. Couldn't find a Graeter's shop anywhere in the area, but did find out that they were selling it in local grocery stores. Good stuff.

I generally think Farr's Ice Cream (Ogden, represent!) is a bit overrated, but their Grape Ambrosia sherbet is insanely good. I'm also a fan of their pistachio, which I think is comparable to Ben n' Jerry's.

OMG that was so crazy good.

As far as retail ice cream goes, people around here rave about something called Amy's, but I just don't get it.
