Finally made it to Five Guys the other night

Is it still there? Has anyone else eaten there? I remember EVERYTHING was breaded and deep fried. We were up in Rexburg visiting my bro and sis in law about 8 or so years ago and he insisted we go there to get food. He ordered. I was surprised to see breaded and deep fat fried sirloin strips. That was a weird meal. Not bad, not good....certainly very unhealthy.

I just spoke with my mom and aunt. They both confirmed that it is still there and operational.

Phil Mickelson, who apparently is the chief authority on these matters, has proclaimed Five Guys as the best burger he's ever had. Supposedly he ate there something like five days in a row.

PM also is part of a group who owns the franchising rights to Five Guys in Orange County.

I finally dined at Five Guys and was reasonably impressed. I prefer In-N-Out, but FG's makes a more substantial burger. For the money, however, I-n-O reigns supreme.

However, I've grown fond lately of The Habit, primarily a California chain with a few in Arizona. In addition to a decent burger (which can include bacon, a regrettable omission from the I-n-O menu), their Tri-Tip Sandwich is very tasty. The missus and I have been lunching there weekly, partaking of the TT sandwiches, onion rings, and malts, all the while committing ourselves to riding off the calorie bombs the next day.

I don't know if its the peanut oil or what but Five Guys doesn't agree with me. I'm fine and enjoy it at the time but I always pay for it in a few hours.

If you think this is as good / better than In-n-Out, you are on crack. It was a decent burger and fries but not even in the same league. Crown Burger or any of a handful of the local mom and pop burger/fries/shake joints are better IMO.

It was better than your typical national chain fast food but not in the same league as In-n-Out.

Totally agree. Doesn't even compare to In-n-Out. I don't understand the fascination with it. Crown Burger is also by far superior.

In-N-Out and 5 Guys are both good, about the same in taste quality which is solid, In-N-Out is just a little bit cheaper so I'd probably give them the slight edge.

But I really want a Crown Burger right now, Pastrami sounds amazing right about now.

Looks like The Habit is going to be opening up a store in Sugarhouse, SLC....
